Obviously part of an insidious wave of suppression across all the swing states

Early voting shortened from 14 to 8 days by the GOP controlled Florida legislature

COMBINED with fewer voting locations on election day itself

I wish we could find a way to prevent voter fraud. In India they take your finger print on the print out from the evm for proof of your vote. I don't know that this would work here, and people may freak out about having to provide their finger print.

I don't know if it is a "myth," but there is no evidence that it is more than a negligible occurrence.

there's no evidence that any "voter fraud" is even intentional. In fact, in the very small number of incidents where data shows the possibility of erroneous votes being cast, there's never any evidence of intent to defraud. It's usually tied to out-dated voter registration information. In Ohio it's estimated that perhaps 4 votes in every million might be in some way illegitimate.

but conservatives, who view the world as evil and every person a potential criminal, feel the need to apply big government solutions to problems that don't exist.

In michigan the GOP tried to demand oaths of citizenship at polling places. Their stated retionale was that in Michigan when people apply for drivers licenses they are also automatically asked by the clerk whether they want to vote. Republicans argue that someone who applies for a license but is not a citizen could fill out a voter registration AND use it to vote.

Of course, the solution to this would be to have secretary of state offices check for citizenship when they issue voter registration AND drivers licenses. But that wouldn't make voting more difficult for minorities and old people. AND it wouldn't make Latinos and the 1,000,000 Arab and Persian Americans who live in SE Michigan feel really really uncomfortable at the polls. So the GOP hasn't changed how drivers licenses are issued. Instead they wanted each and every voter to pledge their citizenship at the poll by signing an affidavit!!

courts struck it down...

there is absolutely zero evidence for organized intentional voter fraud.

there is evidence from all over the country, however, of organized ballot tampering, voter intimidation, etc.

I had Romney folks come out and leave a flyer on my door yesterday. I went out on the porch and asked them if they were working hard and offered them a drink, and they offered me a ride to the polls. Really nice people.

By the numbers he is right. You are talking about vote manipulation and suppression from the top down, I think he is referring specifically to an individual voting twice and shit like that

Tammany hall? What century are you talking about, trots?

I'm saying that TODAY and in recent years there is no individual or systematic voter fraud in this country. There is no evidence for it. And certainly no evidence for any kind of orchestrated fraud like the kind frequently mentioned by conservatives. Stuff like bussing voters from detroit to milwaukee. Or ballot stuffing in Chicago. Or Unions sending members to vote multiple times.

that shit is not happening. It's based on myth and racism.

What is happening throughout the country is voter supression and intimidation, as well as random acts of sabotage. but virtually all of that is being conducted by conservatives. And there's evidence for it every election cycle.

The concept of having a sister wife might seem tempting at first. To have a little help in the kitchen and with other chores and child raising might seem great... but there is no way in hell I'm down for sharing my bed. If Monte is into celestial marriage, he probably feels that he has it made.
