I also noticed a lot of people with your surname documented in Ukraine. Probably a lot of your great grandpa's relatives migrated there.
I found a picture of my great-great grandparent's gravestone

so far i've found romanian and austrian on my dad's side and hungarian and austrian on my mom's

i had to ask my mom her grandparents names and i seem to have a shitload from there. my great grandparens came in the mid 1800s to california via hawaii, it looks like

how is not looking them up respecting them?

it's a web site, do you see a difference between ella doing it and you doing it or do think the entire concept of the documents all being in one place disrespectful?

i just don't see it as disrespectful... she was trying to help. if you find it distasteful that doesn't mean it was disrespectful, but that's not for me to judge

of course, as a white person, you wouldn't understand how that's disrespectful. like i said, mexican culture has a high respect for family (even the dead ones) and some gringa asking to "look it up yo!" on a website is downright rude.

Yo soy, whatever I was just trying to be nice. Anyways, stop being silly and trying to pick a fight.

Reprise, I've found a lot of my ancestor's graves on findagrave.com. It's pretty cool that there are people all over the world who just go to cemeteries to take photos and document all the graves so they can be archived on the Internet!

it's not silly to have respect for something you don't. it's my family, not yours.

fair enough you think it's disrespectful, but me thinking it's not doesn't mean i don't respect my family heritage

i know the basic gist of mine but the genealogy that i actually really want to know, that of my maternal grandmother, is a mystery because she was adopted.

Anyways, my last name is Soto but it's fairly common. I don't know how that website works at all so I don't know how you would even begin to try to look stuff up. You can try Honduras - Obregon, though I'm not sure how much that would help you.

Ok I'll take a look tomorrow. It would make it a lot easier if I knew your parent's and grandparent's names, and maiden names if possible... Or at least your mother's married name if anything. Also birth dates if you know any. PM me with the info if you don't want to make it public.

I just did a real quick search on Soto...there are a lot of different Soto lines! Also, ancestry.com has all Border Crossings 1895-1957 documented, so that should probably help.

my mother's side of the family claimed strong irish heritage for as long as i can remember, but my older sister did research on my grandfather's line and found that it's mostly welsh. my family didn't care.
