Yeah that was pretty cool how Mitt just admitted no women wanted to work for him.

So I made the mistake of getting on the treadmill that was showing the presidential debate and I shit you not, when he said that, I almost passed out and thought I was having a stroke. And now I have to rant.

1. On abortion/contraception:

Romney's solution during the debate was "well everyone should live with two parents and then all of our problems would go away because the problem with America is individual values", or something to that effect, and I couldn't help but ask myself "how does that help the reality of where we're at today?" Maybe in Mormon utopia where everyone has one father and multiple mothers abortion isn't an issue because people's values are perfect and there aren't any deviations from the antiquated notion of what constitutes a loving relationship, but that simply is not representative of reality. News flash: PEOPLE ARE GOING TO FUCK. IT FEELS GOOD AND WE'VE BEEN DOING IT SINCE THE BEGINNING OF HUMAN EXISTENCE. GOD ENCOURAGES IT. So either help people get access to the basic resources they need to deal with it, or continue to be a part of the problem. Is it a fact that kids raised by two parents are more successful on average? Yes (note that it doesn't matter if the parents are both dudes or both ladies and he very smartly chose not to specify "man and woman" even though that is inherent to his beliefs). But how does encouraging individuals to step back and adjust their apparently inferior "values" change anything systematically about our society?

2. Immigration (and this one had me cursing in public much to the amusement of those around me):

Romney berated Obama for not putting forth legislation to deal with immigration reform. To which I shouted at the television "WHAT ABOUT THE DREAM ACT?". Obama didn't write it but he sure as hell supported it, and it was fucking filibustered by senate Republicans after passing the house, so needless to say I was a little irritated when he tried to portray Obama as anti-immigrant. Illegal immigrants pay taxes and they contribute to our society, so why should someone who came here when they were a child or a fetus be penalized for something that is completely beyond their control? To say that Obama has done nothing on that front is a blatant lie and I hope that anyone who has friends who don't have greencards and are missing out on certain opportunities as a result remembers this on election day. I personally know an extremely talented chemist and a good person who is not applying to graduate school because he/she does not have the proper documentation, and on that note I say fuck you, Mitt Romney, and your ilk.

I usually stay off this board but I just want confirmation

Did Romney start to say that children of illegals born in the us are not "us citizens".

I swear he started down that path. Something about how they can get a path toward citizenship by serving in the military or something. I think the moderator cut him off.

Just want a clarification.

Wow. brilliant reasoning. I'm impressed.

Your belief seems rooted in the basis that human beings are hedonistic creatures lacking any type of self-control without the ability to face the responsibility of those actions should it end up in the inevitable result of pregnancy; at which point the state should be there to pay for the actions of someone who cared not to realize the consequences of them.

Kind of like the bankers these days who create a bunch of debt, then want the government to pay for their bad bets that created the debt. But hey, PEOPLE ARE GREEDY AND THEY WANT MONEY!!! Can't stop it, so might as well give them what they want, to hell with the consequences.

Well in a way you have a fair comparison, however health care is a basic necessity and the govt helps individuals who can't provide for themselves, whereas big banks aren't individuals, and aren't entitled to fabulous wealth and luxury. Your view of abortions as flippant means of reg'lar birth control is absurd. Women should have the right to get abortions, and if they can't afford it then I'll gladly swallow that cost as a paying member of a society.

well, in that case it'd be nice if the big bankscrooks would act like healthcare.

Also, flippant are the floozy feminist activist who gloss over the personal aspect of abortions for the collective. Fuck those chicks, they suck.

hah. the banks? Well, we know what we got with Obama vis-a-vis the banks...Bernanke and Geithner still around is all you need to know.

Romney says he'd fire Bernanke. for show I would presume, but if that act was combined with a few other measures mmmmmmmmmmmaybe Romney could do some good there...though, RP says he aint got that in him and he'd know more than I.

prolly write him in, yah. there's some measures in Cali worth turning out for...gmo labeling specifically.

thing is...if you vote on a computer, you don't own it. he who owns the source code owns the vote. the Presidential election is as much show as contest but I do think the process is a test for the initiates, i mean candidates to show the power players what they got under pressure. meanwhile, the race war is getting ramped up here in the U.S. and Turkey is agitating Syria to the point they will eventually react (Saddam was baited similarly), so the things that transcend these two spokesmen for the American Corporation are still churning and proceeding as planned.

which brings up an interesting moral dilemma: is it really wrong for two brothers to fuck each other? it's not as if there will be offspring.
