True story, my senior year of High School, my parents moved us to Enon, Virginia and Mark lived like half a mile from us. I only had a vague idea who he was then, but my freshman year of college IAWL came out and I went into mega-fan mode. I ran into him at a Food Lion during a summer and told him I was a big fan and where my folks lived and he let me tour his makeshift shed studio, see his hours, his wife made lemonade. It was really cool, I have a lot of signed CDs, posters, and some lyric sheets he gave me.

When he died a few years back, I had moved back and actually went to the funeral. (His family all still loved in RVA despite him moving to Asheville.) It was sad. I keep hoping they put out his uncompleted final record. Not that that's really relevant to someone dying, but just saying. He was a nice dude.
