i don't eat a lot of meat, but not for any moral reasons. it's not really that hard to get the protein and fat from beans and nuts and huge salads and eggs (do vegetarians eat eggs? only vegans don't, right?). but it does take more prep work. i love me some chicken breast though.

God I could care less what most of you think of my parenting. You onlyhear about what I post here and fill in the numerous blanks with assumptions, the same way I did with trots.

I mean seriously is it that far fetched that a guy with a dog and no job would live with his parents. Where I'm from it's hard to get a lease on a place with no steady source of income and a dog to boot.

My kid is fine. He's tucked up in bed next to my husband right now wearing a Dora the Explorer blanket sleeper, happy that he doesn't get dumped at daycare every day so that I can go to work. There are plenty of times he doesn't get to choose for himself. He doesn't get to choose to eat cake every day or watch movies in bed at night. He doesn't get to choose whether or not to have his face wiped or his teeth brushed, or what time he needs to go to bed.

I've read obsessively about parenting and nutrition and have posted on a lot of parenting forums and talk endlessly to my other mummy friends about parenting strategies and about this decision in particular. For a lot of you this thread is the only time you'll think hard about parenting thus week. Parenting is my life, full time. I take it very seriously and think hard about everything I do when it comes to my kids. Raising them is my only job right now. On top of that, they fill my leisure time on the weekend and during out of work hours. I'm with the three year old more or less 24/7. None of you have met him but you're prepared to tell me what he is and isn't capable of. It's a joke, to me. You can't expect me to take you seriously.

And reprise we have talked about life and death. Like I say, the same lines that worked on my older son weren't helpful to the younger one. He's a visual thinker and probably dyslexic like my brother, who also is very sensitive and loves animals. The killing is not an abstract concept to him. He pictures it happening and it frightens him and upsets him. As it does a lot of people, including me.

to reiterate for the billionth time, i'm not criticizing anyone's parenting, i'm pointing out that a three year old is incapable of intellectual moral decisions.

well, and that vixnix is using her preconceived biases to raise her children as she wishes and pretending they're making choices, even though they are incapable of them. what if he said he was gay tomorrow? was a conservative? what if he said he didn't believe in god? I mean, train your kid to be a vegetarian or not i don't give a fuck but don't act like they are independent free thinkers making choices.
