Default What is with this TFE lyric?

Yes I posted this in the wrong sub-forum. The BC forum is a nightmare. Mods please don't put it there.

OK so this line has been pissing me off for 7 years now. The answer to this post is that it's just another Billy studio fuck up that for some reason makes it into the final product... One of the more annoying fuck ups too. Much more annoying than 1:33 on Rose March...

But I want to discuss it anyway!

OK here goes:

Album - The Future Embrace

Track 9 - Walking Shade

around 2:20 to 2:24

The lyric is "A kingdom for your _____"

Here's a 400kb .rar with 2 samples, one mp3 with the lyric normally, the other with it progressively slowed down (not pitch corrected though..)

Ok so "most" sites, even spfc.org, say:

Quote:
a kingdom for your rain

Some sites like this one say:

Quote:
a kingdom for your brain
Which makes sense if you listen to the samples above. I never thought it was "rain" (perhaps he said rain on previous live versions...). I always thought it sounded more like "brain" or a fuck up.

But just a week or so ago, and why I made this thread, I now think it sounds like another word! I don't want to say it yet. I want to see if someone else says it without being prepped to hear it.

At the Sydney acoustic show it's pretty clearly "a kingdom for your rain".

Whether or not he was doing the "dropping consonants" thing, we'll never know.

Sounds like rain but there's a drum beat right before it which makes it sound a bit like brain.

I heard this song on 3 gigs, and with 2 or maybe 3 lyric changes. So he wrote rain in the booklet, but liked to sing drain or brain or whatever. I'd say it's dadaesque, not a fuck up.

No one has said the word yet...

I think you might have to listen to the slowed down one to hear it.

That reminds me, on this site the lyrics to almost the entire song are different... That must have been a really early version, or someone just made it up.

Quote:
Can't even imagine your times
Wait for this bliss in your rhyme
Seen everything wasting time
Following lives inside of mine
But...
{chorus}

Sing the song of our game
Creating hearts in our rage
Kissing the mountain peak smile
Reaching beyond
Sunshine

I Have waited to long
You have been too strong
And..
{chorus}

I will believe for this day
Purity has never been the same
Lost in this faith without life
Bounding outside of this strife
Well...
{chorus}

To calm the rising fight
To build you a new life

To calm the rising fight
To build you a new life

It's clearly "a kingdom for your rain." What makes it sound like "brain" is not that there is a drumbeat there, cause there isn't. He's simply hesitating slightly before singing the word... sort of like how he'd drop consonants, but not. It was part of his singing style back in 2005.

Simple as that.

I'm not sure how you can listen to the slowed down one and still say it is rain. Do I have a fucked up copy or is Reyngel just an idiot?

It's pretty clearly brain on the track, both how it sounds and considering the context (brain / soul), and it's also pretty clear that he sings rain at the Sydney acoustic show.

So, the answer, as always, is that the lyrics to Honeyspider are "brain-dripping."

Yeah there would be if there wasn't a sound being pronounced before the R sound. Too bad that there is.

"simply hesitating", as Reyngel put it, doesn't cause another sound to just magically appear.... Therefore:
