ryan is ostensibly supposed to beef up the ticket's pragmatic, economic appeal because he is an economic wizard in the minds of his colleagues.

problem is that his plan was actually total ideologue horseshit that slashed programs for the poor while completely failing to reign in defense spending, just like every other strategy his party favors.

whether this works for romney will come down to how well he can sell ryan to the public as someone who actually understands the economy.

hopefully enough of those independents understand what a sham ryan's image is, but I am a little worried... independents seem to lean conservatively, especially economically, and everyone is desperate for an improved economic outlook. The GOP has also been fairly successful in its campaign of economic fear, convincing people of completely outrageous bullshit such as, "Obama has racked up more debt in 4 years than every previous President combined"
