Hugh Laurie cast as villain in 'RoboCop' remake The 53-year-old actor has been cast to play the bad guy in the "RoboCop" remake, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Laurie will play the super-rich CEO of Omnicorp, the corporation that makes the RoboCop. The film, which is based on the 1987 sci-fi movie of the same name, will also star Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman. Joel Kinnaman of "The Killing" will play the hero RoboCop, who begins the movie as police officer Alex Murphy and, after being fatally wounded, is transformed into a cyborg cop. Jackson's casting was announced last week. The veteran actor will play Pat Novak, a media mogul. Oldman will star as the scientist who helps create RoboCop. The original 1987 film starred Peter Weller as Murphy, who turned into RoboCop. Weller also starred in the 1990 sequel. Robert Burke portrayed the character in "RoboCop 3," which was released in 1993. The MGM/Sony film has brought Jose Padilha on-board to direct the remake and Gary Oldman previously joined the cast as the scientist behind the creation of Robocop. |

The first Robocop movie is a masterpiece.
I don't think I've actually seen all of 2...I'm suspecting it has cool parts but is very flawed. I remember 3 being terrible. |

The second one is quite good at times. I remember it having more of a satirical feel than the first one. I always thought it was awesome that one of the villains / criminal masterminds in Robocop 2 was a twelve year old boy.
