Rent + Les Miserables = gooooooood
Haven't seen too many shows but I really have a tough time believing it gets any better than Les Mis. |

Rent was damn good.
I usually try and see a couple shows every time I go to new york. Hot Ticks is good in times square for cheap tickets. There's also one in the business district somewhere too.

i just kinna thought this meant actual shows on broadway, and obviously it means broadway shows that go on a nationwide tour, but is it also applying to low budget productions? (local theater, high schools) well anyway on broadway street i've seen

On Broadway:
Cats-good Man of La Mancha-too young to grasp it My Fair Lady- great The King and I- good Annie- the new ending sucked Cabaret- Amazing-favorite play I've seen Miss Saigon- stereotypical garbage.....racist Phantom-Great Les Mis- Amazing Grease- typical Kiss Me Kate- got better as it went on Rent- very good but pretentious Theater Productions Oliver- Good stuff Pippen- very very surrealistic at the end Westside Story- Loved it Joseph- allright Gypsy-blech Oklahoma!- great scenery Off Broadway The Blue Man Group: Tubes- the price is intimidating, but it;s worth every penny Joseph Gabriel- I love sleight of hand magic. |

2. Have you ever seen a real play where they don't break out into song? 3. Musicals are stupid. However, West Side Story is decent. And that's the only one I have ever seen. |

2. i saw true west (with john c. reilly and phillip seymour hoffman) and amadeus. you can't get much better than that. you'll find that the there are 5 times more musicals than plays on broadway. 3. don't discredit the musical. there are some amazing ones that even tough guys like you would like. |

If I was living in New York I would have done seen the Crucible with Liam Neeson PDQ. There was another Miller play going at the same time with Chirs O'Donnell that I forgot the name of. It was Miller's first play where he started toying around with the idea and the themes that would later manifest into the great American tragedy, Death of a Salesman. There were a couple of other dramatic plays on Broadway this season that I read about that sounded pretty good. Too bad I could only read about them ![]() I'm sure I could grudgingly admit to enjoying a musical (I did like West Side Story quite a bit), but they're more entertainment for entertainment's sake. Nothing wrong with that, but when I go to the theatre I want to come out with my brain turned inside out. |
