Wow the Joy Formidable were pretty amazing live. Depending on their new album I could see those guys becoming superstars. A Place to Bury Strangers were OK though their sound mix sucked the balls.

fucking awesome week
so these were very different but both spectacular

I was a little underwhelmed by APTBS but that could be in part because of my unfamiliarity. The first band was Exitmusic, which intrigued me. Kinda wanna check them out. JF was one of the most energetic shows I've seen. Really awesome. Looking forward to the next album (which is finished).

Fiona Apple in a tiny, beautiful space... there's really no way I wasn't going to love that show. The new tracks were great. Setlist (same as it's been everywhere else, but we got two covers where other shows got 0 or 1, i think) was interesting. Carrion was a highlight. Never thought I'd see that live before this mini tour.

Wonderful stuff.

Last night of Middle of the Map Fest was a bit of a letdown. I was plAnning on seeing Friends/Neon Indian/Fucked Up but the venue for Friends/NI/fun was over capacity before i even got down there.

So i saw Appleseed Cast at a venue that was already over capacity, too. Had I stayed there, I could have seen Fucked Up. I left after the Cast and then sat in on Mansion and then saw a few songs of some dude named Beau Jennings. After that I planned to head home but, on a lark, I stood in line for the fun show because they were doing the "one out one in" rule. As I inched closer to the entrance, time was ticking out. But, when the first song started playing, the bouncers said fuck it and rushed people in. I have never seen a room more crowded. The door guys had to literally force some fans to push their way off the steps. But they kept admitting people and i wAS for sure they'd stop the show or there'd be trampling but it went off w/o a hitch.

05/12 M. Ward / Lee Ranaldo Band @ Union Transfer (Philadelphia, PA)
06/13 Radiohead @ Sesquehanna Bank Center (Camden, NJ)
06/21 Sharon Van Etten / Meg Baird @ Union Transfer (Philadelphia, PA)
06/27 Fiona Apple @ Tower Theatre (Upper Darby, PA)
07/30 Sigur Rós @ Skyline Stage (The Mann) (Philadelphia, PA)

Might also go to some new music festival down in Dover this year that has a pretty nice line-up but it is pretty dependent on if I have the money to go. Even if I don't, pretty excited about the summer.
