The last time we went the wave pool closed 4 times in one day due to high fecal coliform bacteria count and we were charged an extra $10 "resort fee" that had not been previously disclosed. The water park and rooms were starting to show wear, the food is overpriced, and you can tell the staff does not want to be there. The bloom is off the rose at this place.

My kids (4) all got ill from being there for 2 full days. This place is overrated, the staff is bored, and we dropped close to $800 total. Terrible. Rather have put this towards a trip to Disneyland. We went based on a friends referral....some friend. I wish I could get my money back.

I stayed there once with the children, but at ~ $500 per night, without food, the price is just outrageous. A stay at the nearest Four Seasons would be cheaper and more relaxing.

The pool is fun, as are the water slides, but the whole thing is one packed mass of humanity, and you can wait up to one hour per slide. You can force yourself to ignore the near-standing room only crowds because everyone does seem to be having a good time. The food is terrible - overpriced greasy fast food things. There is a very decent Americana type roadside diner down the street that has a nightly special for $8 per person, which has way better food and equally good breakfasts. We tried the "nicer" restaurant in the hotel once, but even though only 8 tables were being used, and the rest of the restaurant was shut down, they refused to open more than the 8 tables -- and there were more than 20 families who would have used them had they been permitted. Once was enough!

Only if someone else is paying, I've borrowed a couple of the well-behaved grandkids for the w/e and I'm HEAVILY sedated.

We went a year or so ago and had a lot of fun. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but you do have to factor in both hotel and water park tickets.

We went midweek and the highlight was that it felt like we had the water park to ourselves. There might be a dozen people waiting to get on a slide rather than the hundred or more you see at Wild Waves.

Just Passing Through

A pool maintenance person recommended that we never be there at the end of a weekend (Sunday), especially a 3-day weekend, as that is when the pools are most toxic. By mid-week they have been cleaned up again, and the crowds are gone. So that sounds like the best time on multiple counts.

Already mentioned, but yes it is super expensive.... but the kids love it, but they also like any hotel with a pool.

The part I dislike the most are the kids running up and down the halls at midnight... yes midnight. It's like the parents see this is a a vacation from their kids and let them go crazy and run around by themselves at all hours.

The inch of separation between the door and the floor means all that wonderful noise flows into your room as you're trying to sleep.

There are so many better options for kids (and their parents) in in the great Pacific Northwest for this kind of money....

don't forget to tell the kids to be good or you'll leave them at the maple lane juvenile rehabilitation school

that's right a short walk from the lodge, even quicker by car

That stupid overpriced magic game that really knows how to market to kids is the reason I'll never go back. No way am I paying 40-60 bucks for two kids to pay the stupid game.

I'm thinking somebody got their room comped. I can think of a lot of things to do for $300 a night other than going to Thurston County and being in-doors all the time.

My daughter broke her leg at GWL. They could care less about her. No follow up they gave her a stuffed toy and sent her to the hospital. They are a bunch of heartless #%@#!. When I talked to the people at the hospital they said that their business had almost tripled since GWL started up. We will NEVER go there again and anyone that I know who is thinking about going there I tell them to stay away.

I CAN'T WAIT! GONNA RAISE THE FECAL LEVELS UP IN THE WAVE POOL BECAUSE I AM GOING TO FUCK MY BRIDE IN THE ASS AFTER EATING THEIR OVER PRICED FOOD! YAY!

Break a leg! Get comped and heavily sedated! My cousin just took her family there, heard they had a fecal filled night of extravagance!

I've been to the one in Grapevine Tx, we got a free day pass to swim in their indoor water park. It was pretty cool.
