I was at the Morrissey show in metro Detroit a couple weeks ago with a friend who runs a music website. In between the horrible opening act and Morrissey's set they played a bunch of vintage 50s-70s videos. They played a New York Dolls video and my friend turned to me and said, "somehow Rock and Roll never progressed much beyond this. It's like The Stones went to the wall and everything after is in their shadow."

Maybe I was just three PBR tall boys beyond clear thinking, but it made a lot of sense at the time.
