i really don't like christmas. i don't like the "spirit" or the phony traditionalism. i certainly don't like the mass marketing capitalist aspects of it. i don't like the christian aspects of it. i don't like the music. i don't have fun at christmas events with family anymore, i find them to be rather tedious and obligatory. i don't like how i can be alone any other day of the year and not feel like shit but then if i want to spend christmas by myself i'm incredibly lonely and sad because of what should be a religious holiday that means absolutely nothing to me. If I'm home alone listening to records on one of the seven nights of Hanukkah i don't fucking care

i don't like how if you don't like the holiday then you're an asshole and a "bitch" and whatever, and everyone acts like you HAVE TO DO IT (unless your islamic or jewish or whatever) because being secular and uninterested in christmas is NOT AN OPTION and you're a FUCKING PRICK if you DON'T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS GODDAMN IT

i hate the commercialized aspect of the season, so i limited my gifts to objects of practical value. kitchenware, books and educational dvd's for the chirren. i think this is a reasonable compromise.

you are perfectly entitled to not celebrate christmas. i never said you were obligated to. also i didn't mention christmas. at all. aside from that, you know it's basically a secular holiday and that winter festivals around the solstice existed before and alongside christianity and that a rose by any other name yada yada yada.
