yeah
again, they weren't extremely specific about it (probably by intention). but it's pretty clear that it's the nature of the job

if it's literally doing the same basic movements over and over again for 12 hours then that would probably be soul destroying

i dunno bro it's a tough choice.

eulogoogly and trots, it's 4 days of 12 hour shifts (two morning shifts, two night shifts) and 4 days off

but yeah i doubt those 4 days off really cut it when working hours are that long
by the time my sleep cycle recovers ill have to go fuck it up again

well in spite of dying TV in israel, this dude was cool and liked you and even hinted that he could offer you more in the future. i think that's a big green flag.

even if you only end up working for this guy for a little while, and the TV industry in Israel gets even worse, you'll have the experience to work other places in the world (if that's something you're interested in)

i just think, overall, in 3 months, regardless of if you have a job, you'll be more qualified, and networked to advance your career.

but i dont want to belittle the thought of being unemployed, etc. it's a very real fear and i understand being apprehensive about possibly passing up job security.

totally soul destroying, i know.
i would imagine it's not quite as simple as pressing the red button and watching a line of chips spilling into a bin, but it's not going to be too
versatile, that's for sure.

i dunno man

you would certainly get used to it. and 4 days off/4 days on would be great if not for the alternating shifts.

but i was under the impression it'd be like, 7 to 7 everyday or something, which would be way more manageable than alternating mornings and nights.

yeah tbh lately i've totally had it with this place and if I only had the real option to get the fuck out of here I would.
i'd really love to come live and work in the US but god, it's so hard to get past the visa's and green cards and paper trails. certainly for a guy like me who has next to no substantial background or experience in any field. they'd just never let me in.

how did your friend from Ashqelon manage this?
i'm even thinking of going to Canada, lol

now that i think about it, no wonder that the term 'clean room' doesn't ring much bells with you guys. i think the factory in Israel is one of the few worldwide Intel factories that employs a clean room. they chose to locate it here because labor is cheap. it's like china or india to them. god i sound like some ndugu.

the thing is, my parents used to live in Santa Clara (i think..?) when my mom was pregnant with me. my dad worked there, also with Intel btw. she got up to 8 months pregnant when they decided to leave, in order to find proper education and home before the next year had started.
i was one month away from being an american citizen. can't get past it to this day

he came over with his family when he was a little younger. i'm not exactly sure how he did it bc he has duel citizenship and never had to serve. His parents are uneducated artists (i dont mean that in a mean way i just meant they, too, didnt have much to go on in terms of getting into the country...and it was 20 years ago), so i have really no idea what visa/green card finagling went on. Im pretty sure his dad did something to make it happen.... Shlomo's a crafty guy.

why don't you?
as long as you don't have to live here by default, tel aviv is great.

because when you're young and have no dependents is the time you can safely take risks with your career

you're gonna die some day, do you really want to look back and say hey i sure wish i'd taken a chance on a rewarding career when i had the opportunity

mr big shot clean room burnout!!

ive considered it many times but its just never worked out. He might actually be moving back there soon to live with his grandma and if my job in Nepal falls through (phone interview this week. cross fingers) i might see what's up over there. He used to go every summer in college and i always wanted to go with.

pursuing a career in sound engineering might eventually turn out to be mentally rewarding, but anything other than getting by financially will be a surprise. at least where i live.
fuck it, this is exhausting.

thanks for all your input
