i feel ya trots... if i had an acquaintence who reeked of homophobia or whatever, i'd have no problem ditching them. hell, even if my dad was super vocal about it, i'd kind of steer clear of their house.

if you live in the redneck south, or at least where i did, this shit was common. first time i heard it i didnt know how the fuck to react. i ended up pointedly ignoring people for the most part. i don't hear it much in south florida but the one time i did (i was in a psych hospital) i nearly felt the urge to attack her because racism makes me like that + the fact that i would likely not get in trouble since i was in the crazy bin. but some other schizophrenic lady ended up decking her when she was telling the mental health techs they should all go back to haiti. before that happened she was talking loudly on the hallway phone about the techs being shitty to her because she was white. ugh.
