taxes are theft even though the ability of the government to levy taxes is in the constitution. but because the word "abortion" doesn't appear in the constitution, government should be allowed to control women's uteri.

People like Nimrod ultimately believe that a piece of paper scrawled on by politicians over 2 centuries ago is just as relevant today without any new interpretation... sounds like base level idiocy to me, but that it is literally what strict constructionists believe.

If the Framers were around today, they would have no fucking idea how to fix the debt crisis, the income gap, the polarizing ideologies of the political system, or anything like that. They wouldn't even recognize this country as America. Things change a lot in 230 something years. We need solutions from today for today's problems, not solutions from hundreds of years ago. I believe our Constitution is a pretty good one and it lays a framework superior to most other constitutions in the world, but it is still an old ass document filled with old ass ideas.

but several parts of it inform a general right to be free from government intrusion. and that is why a woman should be able to keep the government out of her own goddamn uterus.
I didn't even say "abortion" I said there's no privacy clause much less anything about a womb being private.

Once again, and I feel I must all caps this because it is very clear you didn't get it the first hundred times, WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT STAYING OUT OF A WOMAN'S BODY. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A FLAWED PIECE OF LAW THAT PREVENTS THAT.

I have no issue with a law being passed that prevents it. What I'm simply trying to relate is that the existing law - even if you agree with the outcome - is incorrectly applied.
