I was never a final fantasy fan, so I'm completely ignorant to this whole thing.

well i guess its not exactly mainstream news, but for the past few years the music of final fantasy has been touring the world's great concert halls, getting played by a full orchestra. the composer of the music appears and takes part as well.

there are other game music concerts around the world, but final fantasy is generally the most popular series and with the largest repertoire. there's just nothing like it. in order to really appreciate the music though, you should play the classic games so you can hear it in context. it has a profound impact on people.

I saw the Dallas Symphony Orchestra do Video Games Live, which is similar, but they play music from a whole bunch of video games. One Winged Angel was fucking badass live. So was the theme from God of War.
