with the first american psycho you have a bunch of good ideas but the execution is flawed. with the second one its like they learned everything failed about bale's character and fixed is with kunis'. so you can put me in part 2's camp

like compare the scene where bale is going on and huey lewis in the news and then kills his brother. its a funny scene but with mila you get more of a sense that she's more more of a straight up sociopath. compare that scene with this and tell me her character isn't more believable

i haven't seen the second one but i'm really having a hard time believing the second one could be any better. mila kunis, a twisted serial killer? it just can't pass.
the first movie is indeed flawed in many ways, but it shines in others. overall it remains kind of a favorite of mine. lots of classic scenes

american psycho is weird. they portray him as both a psychopath and psychotic. i'm sure these can exist together but i think it was a weird choice that ultimately confuses people who are interested in this stuff. which is like none of you so i'll shut up now

besides that, i really don't get the love for the movie. C+

american psycho is by far christian bale's best performance. it's his defining role.
he pretty much looks like a pale copy of patrick bateman in every other movie he does.
except for the machinist, which people like and i haven't seen yet.
but yeah, in all those batman movies he's retarded. especially with that cock-in-the-throat voice.
