adding to my hipster list of animes you probably haven't seen:

origin, appleseed, the girl who fell through time, summer wars, armitage iii, 5 centimeters per second (probably the reigning champ for most beautiful and heartbreaking anime, see it asap)

bonnie you were like 12 in 2003, did you really know any anime then outside of maybe pokemon

you may have noticed i wasn't including ghibli movies. but yeah grave is the saddest film for sure (if you don't count barefoot gen, which features graphic depictions of children's skin melting off in the hiroshima blast). the one i mentioned is more heartbreaking in the romantic sense, its kindof like eternal sunshine.

i didnt even realize it was a ghibli movie
i tend to get stuck in thinking only the miyazaki movies count
but its still anime and its just really crushing at the end
why didn't they just get help

Well I definitely had watched Akira and all of Cowboy Bebop and a little hentai too

I mainly watch anime series instead of movies, but I simply have to see Summer Wars, everyone says it's suhweeeet.
