Eternal Sunshine and Dumb & Dumber are tied for as his best movies.

Truman Show, Ace Ventura 1 & 2, The Cable Guy, and Me, Myself, & Irene were also great.

Liar Liar and Man on the Moon are still good but a step down.

Everything else excluding In Living Color has been pretty much pure shit.

strike ace ventura 2 and i kind of agree with you. I actually did enjoy the cable guy since it was done at the height of his popularity and is profoundly dark, cruel and weird, which i appreciate since it is so rare.

Man on the Moon was well made but I don't think Kaufman would have liked it much. It's still interesting to watch since I was too young for Kaufmanmania, and it's amazing he was even popular. Kaufman really did lay down a lot of groundwork for strange, off-kilter alternative comics in the mainstream. Without Kaufman there'd be no superstar Galafanakis, which I still find to be a bit strange.

i actually catched Liar, Liar the other day and i was surprised at how funny it was.
real extreme slapstick shit, you can totally tell carey was just given a free hand - the camera's rolling, do whatever the fuck you want... it's fucking hilarious. the actual plot and especially the "emotional" ending are horrendous though.
