the entire show is vaguely circumstantial at best.... but really is no more reliable than any of the other theories for the unexplainable (ie religion). At least the people on the show have the intelligence to say "this COULD mean...." before they beat you over the head with their ideas.

I just think the dude is a comical stereotype of an ancient astronaut theorist.

ancient aliens is a great show. it should be called "ancient astronauts" but that clearly woulnd't have been the catchier title. ergo OF COURSE they have to end everything with COULD IT BE ALIENS I DON'T KNOW but the point of the show, IMO, is to show these strange things as common links between cultures and places and time.

letting go of the OMG IS IT ALIENS approach, the show is fascinating. the majority of material i am familair with but in most instances i have not made the connections to similar activity on a broader, more worldwide scale (see - everything weird happening on the 25th parallel).

the best episode so far was the one about underwater civilizations. we've spent so much time looking to the stars but here are, for example, underwater cities just being discovered in 60 ft of water that totally overthrow the majority of what we have come to know as archaeological history.

i love the show... it's my standard night time tv watching. Pop in the dvd, queue up a few episodes, drift off to sleep dreaming of walking the Nazca lines.

the leveling off is impressive... the fact that none of the excess earth/debris can be found anywhere is downright odd.

That series got me to read Chariots of the Gods? Really great read if you haven't read it and are interested in the subject. Asks a lot of great questions.

from my personal experience, those weirdy books written in the 70s (sitchen, berlitz) don't hold up too well nowadays. i find that von donnegan (sp w/e) to be the most nutjob guy on the show. my favorite guy is the chubby guy with sandy white hair and glasses with beady eyes that looks real strung out like he drinks a lot. his name escapes me at the moment.

the most interesting perrspective giorgio has afforded me is that ancient cultures were geniuses at mimicking what they saw and realistically recording what they saw in some way. and yet in just about every culture there are stories of beings coming down from the heavens with great smoke and fire and teaching the people some knowledge or showing them some things they need to know or what have you.

von Däniken is rather absurd on the show, but charriots of the gods? is actually fairly tolerable imo. von Däniken constantly saying "IT MUST MEAN......" is fuck all annoying.

I know who you mean the chubby guy... hes a personal fav as is the guy who hosts coast to coast... both are very reasonable.

But at their absolute worst i find the absurd parts of the show no less reasonable than any and all religions and their explanations of the world and what they expect you to believe.
