Garbage are my joint favourite band with SP. Absolutely unbeatable songwriting. I even wrote a message to Shirley on facebook recently and she replied

I especially like their early material that sounds like trip hop (Milk, Queer, The Trick Is to Keep Breathing, You Look So Fine)

pretty much this

Not a bad band but ultimately pretty forgettable, which I've always found odd considering their pedigree.

They're coming to SLC in a few weeks - I think I'm going to go, even if I end up going on a solo mission. Saw them in '99, but I didn't know the first album very well... remember thinking "man, what are all these songs?" only knowing V. 2.0. In hindsight, I missed the boat.

For $25, I think it's worth a little nostalgia adventure.

I decided not to date a guy once because he loaned me a garbage album telling me it was really good and they were his favorite band.

If I were to make a single-cd best of, it'd be:

Only Happy When it Rains
Not My Idea
Stupid Girl
Dog New Tricks
When I Grow Up
Medication
Special
Push It
Can't Cry These Tears
Silence is Golden
Breaking Up the Girl
Parade
Run Baby Run
Bleed Like Me

and from the new one:

Big Bright World
Blood for Poppies
Not Your Kind of People
Felt
Beloved Freak

that would prob fit on an 80-min cd-r

The lack of Fix Me Now and My Lover's Box is fatal to this best of.

listening to NYKOP right now. been revisiting it with relative frequency. i still like it quite a bit.

Am I the only one who liked Trip My Wire or whatever that song is on the Romeo & Juliet soundtrack? I haven't heard it in years but I remember really liking it live.
