It's gonna be cool...but it's feels weird not having ant/giant-man and the wasp. (comic fans always find something to bitch about) |

A true comic fan would know that it was actually the secret invasion event, not house of m, and anyway that's the marvel earth 616 continuity not the marvel movie continuity

She's actually a pretty awesome cold-war spy character. She happens to be really in good shape, just like batman and superman.

she's fine but if you're not telling me she's bodacious t&a then you're kidding
i mean it's like rogue. I think she's a good character but I'm sure half of that was because of how ludicrously hot most artists (used to) draw her and the fact that she can lift cars and fly and shit which is also stupid hot. |

i mean i had all the x-books from the early 90s and they weren't all cheesecake but most of the big titles specifically had image-style artists that drew really porny women. Course Joe Mad throws that all off and I really enjoy that guy's style but he was still drawing definite anime style cheesecake at times.
honestly when i was reading all the x-books from giant size on, I noticed that right around the end of the 80s when Marc Silvestri was on X-Men most of the time it really wasn't like...absurd proportions and stuff. I mean, the sexiest girls in the books were drawn by John Byrne and they still looked like real chicks most of the time. I mean they were all built like 10s but still, it wasn't like the above... Silvestri comes in and i guess that all changes, they all have porn star faces and I swear to god some of the poses he put dazzler and rogue in are tracings out of porno mags. |

plus silvestri's art is actually pretty fucking bad, we all know about leifeld being terrible but Silvestri was almost equally terrified of drawing feet and there's a lot of cross hatching and bad background work. Really the only Image guy that came out of those late 80s early 90s x books that was really worth a shit was Jim Lee.

Yeah that's all true.
I've been reading the Claremont/cockrum/Byrne x-men starting giant with size #1, I'm almost to the dark Phoenix saga. I love me some Byrne. |

Seriously man he's one of the best of all time, too bad he's a huge asshole.
Jim Seranko and Neal Adams are great too. But Longshot by Art Adams is probably some of the greatest work by any artist in a periodical comic ever. |

honestly it's a great and strange read but the artwork is pants shittingly intense. I can see that a lot of the image guys were trying to ape Art Adams a bit but they fucking fail because he's so goddamn intense he can't even do a monthly book. His backgrounds are just flat fucking insane. Every panel is just crammed to the brim with detail and linework.
Neal Adams did some work on X-Men before it got put into reruns in the late 60s. Honestly his panel work and detail brought the book back from the brink of total irrelevancy. Also Seranko designed that X-Men logo they used for decades. Seeing something that fresh on the cover of a book in the late 60s was jarring since it's such a modern, lasting design. |

oh snap how can i forget the weirdest artist to ever work on a mainstream book: Bill Sienkewicz.
The Claremont/Sienkewicz New Mutants are some incredibly good comic books, possibly Claremont's best work. The Legion story arc is just amazing. |

Yeah I'm sure I'll get around to new mutants. I've read some of Sienkewics Moon Knight which is pretty awesome (Moench's writing doesn't quite live up to the artwork).
