Also, has anybody seen Panic Room? I've heard some pretty bad things, but I've also seen some critics defend it staunchly.
i've seen it. it's a psychological thriller where a woman (jodie foster) and her daughter are trapped in the room (which is heavily secured) while some bad guys (including the guy who designed the panic room) try to break in.. I wouldn't rate it that highly, it's rather non-eventful.

No seriously. The Ring was pretty dumb. The whole "evil videotape" idea was completely absurd. And the little kid was fucking stupid, he was the super creepy version of haley joel osment. Come on! It scared the shit out of Kenzie, it must have been dumb.

So sue me, I just like good ghost stories.

13- 14 is a very good age to watch "Aliens" for the first time. It has some horror elements in it, but basically its just a great balls-to-the-walls action/horror/sci-fi that twists a bunch of genres into one. Nothing too heavy on the gore, but it has some really intense stuff on first viewing using a hell of alot of camera tricks and rapid fire editing.

Candyman (this scared me when i was 12)

Not scary but one of my favourites:

Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (be sure to get the one with the music video at the end by Dream Warriors)

Strangeland

I really liked it when I saw it the first time. After that though...:erm

I don't know, I still think parts of it were cool (like the scene where the one girl goes into the basement or whatever and sees the people through her camera...that was nice), but overall I think it sucked ass.

And I'll say again that The Ring kicked ass.

Me too.

Anything that has a formula, it seems, scares me. Like, see a videotape: Die. Look in the mirror: Die.

*shudder*

Apocalypse Now. That's horror.
apocalypse now?

boring. as. hell.
just pop that in, instead of a sleeping pill, seriously.

at least the ring will scare the holy hell out of you if you suspend disbelief. and you're laughter is just an obvious self-defense mechanism in order to prevent you from pissing your pants. "oh shit this is scary--wait its not real, haha i laugh at the not-realness of this!"

The only good thing I can say about this movie is that I never saw the end coming. Not that it was that good, but it really was a surprise. It reminded me of The Crying Game.

yea. the ring sucked. the opening scene was good, but everything after that was lame. that movie might startle you a couple times but there are no real scares.

Trust me, I wish someone would have done the same to me so I could have saved the $3 I spent to rent the damn thing. It is truly horrible.

If you think that was bad, check out Killing Spree. I hardly got to the end without hanging myself. By far the worst movie I have ever seen. In one of the scenes, the jealous husband replaces the fan blades with machetes and cuts off the cable guy's head, because he thought that his wife was having an affair with him.

No...if you're talking about who I think you're talking about, you're right...it's a boy.

I didn't even see the end of the movie so I wouldn't know any "plot twists".

What the hell are you talking about?

You're either talking about the girl's son (which I assumed you were) or about the girl that was causing all the problems. There were no "plot twists.'

Actually, there was a girl AND a boy, and I don't know which he was referring to - but I assumed it was the girl. So, actually, yeah... that was pretty dumb of me. Still, even if he was talking about the boy, that kid was CUTE as all fucking hell.

I actually got up and walked away, thinking the movie was over and everything was all right... that was just before that little bitch fuckin' plot-twisted out of the guy's TV set, doing the most creepy-ass walk I've ever seen in my goddamn life!

*shudder*
