I've never paid for gym access, but the hospital where I work at has an employee gym and in Charleston, SC, there was a gym that gave free membership to all AmeriCorps workers. I love the elliptical machine

Hmm, I just suggest not forgetting about lifting weights along with cardio. But I'm sure your trainer will tell you that.

Get those protein shake things. I know people who are into the whole bodybuilding thing and they're constantly mixing up chocolate milk drinks

Ha! I do 25 minutes of that on the lowest setting. That about all I can ever do. But I very very rarely work out.

Uhh, I think you have to wait a bit longer than three days to notice a difference. But those things never made sense to me anyway. Even if they do work, it seems much more maintable and healthier to just start eating healthier and smaller portions.

favorite machine. I do 40 mins on a monderate setting. that's about all i can handle most days. I also use handweights because our elliptical doesn't have the hand pully things some do..

it does work, but you really have to eat so much less, it's terrible..

i've been on the weight watchers points thing for 3 months and have lost 25 lbs already.. it really works, esp if you work out as well. (and you don't starve) i have all the info you need to do it, if you want.

Thumbs up

reduce your calorie intake by 1/2 and then exercise hard for at least an hour every day and you will lose weight

impossible not to

you can eat anything you want, just in moderation...like one bite on a quarter pounder instead of the whole thing with large fries and a supersize hi-c

I just did 40 minutes on moderate setting. Wahoo! It's amazing how quickly I progress when I workout on at least a semi-regular basis.

i don't see the point in joining a gym, at least out here.

i run for an hour once a week....play soccer twice a week.....usually rollerblade @ the beach once a week (weather permitting)....and usually get a night of basketball in there somewhere. i just use free weights at home.

i've had a few gym memberships in the past, and it's just not for me. it's easy to give up running, doing the stairmaster, etc. when you're sitting there reading a book. when i skate 10 miles up north along the beach, i can't quit and drive home...i have to skate back. the breeze, the beach and the bikini's all help out, of course.

I've heard awesome things about Weight Watchers. I only have a little bit to lose, but I think it is a good idea.

And the SlimFast diet isn't very good, sure, the shakes taste fine. but you'll be starving until dinner.

Give them a WEEK, they take off the weight.

By the way, you're getting ripped off on the gym. The horror story I have is when I quit 24 hr fitness they wouldn't stop wwithdrawing fees from my bank acct. I had to change my acct number in order to get them to stop.

You shouldn't need a personal trainer. Sounds like someone got upsold! For the army all you should worry about it cardiovascular and cardiorespiratory. That is what will give you stamina. Strength will come naturally with it and you will build that anyway in the service.

They do work if you stay true to the diet thing, *but* most of the weight you lose in that first week is attributed more to water loss. Typically when you're dieting, and especially when you're doing the Slim-Fast, you're sodium intake is lower than pre-diet...and you carry less water.

that sounds really bad. luckily, i paid upfront in cash, no bank accounts to worry about.

luckily the trainers don't cost anything extra. he just has me doing a bunch of shit to work out my arms, stomach, and legs. well i guess that's what a workout is. but damn, it's hard. i haven't excercised this much in...ever.
