Default new Strokes and Duran Duran

This is the first Strokes albums that I actually like most of the way through. There are a lot more 80s influences on this one. Some stuff that sounds like the Cars and Elvis Costello.

The Duran Duran is fucking awesome. Its the best thing they've done in more than 25 years. It sounds just like their glory days (Self Titled, Rio)

god i motherfucking hate the strokes so fucking much. the fact that they are a big deal every time they play even though they haven't released anything of any import since 2002 is just annoying as all hell. they're smug, they're shallow, they're everything terrible about hipsters....what a stupid, annoying band. goddamnit.

listen to television instead, they practically stole their entire act from them. they just "hipstered" it up.

I've listened to the first Television album and I wasn't really feeling it. People also say they ripped off Velvet Underground who I have yet to listen to.

I haven't listened to Wire but I have listened to Gang of Four and XTC. I tend to like the more gothic dark sounding post-punk. (Echo and Bunnymen, Chameleons, The Cure)

ever listened to for against? their 1st 2 albums are really great imo, especially 'december'. from what i've heard of xtc they're not so dark. also try omd's 1st 3 albums if you haven't.

yeah, really! how has anyone not listened to vu [as far as television or the strokes being ripoffs of them i don't really hear it]. if you like dark postpunk try wire's '154'.

..and i need to check out this new DD if it's as good as you claim
btw omd's latest album 'history of modern' is damn good. just saw them in houston and they kicked ass

You should check out this guy called Twin Shadow. He sounds like Morrissey and David Bowie backed by synth-pop.

lets make this thread about television

i like that they still have that kind of classic rock swagger to the guitars, even though the vocals are punk rock as hell

Catherine Wheel, every time you make threads people just abuse you for having laughably shitty taste in everything. So why keep making threads?

I made a thread a little while back about Elbow - Build a Rocket Boys which is an album that I know you like cus you made a thread about it too. I know it may come as a shock to you that we like the same band.

well obviously not every single thing you like is going to be rubbish but you're just talking up your own musical ignorance 99% of the time.

What because I said that Television weren't good or that most bands to come out of DC weren't good? Grow up. Aren't you a little old to still be bullying people on a online forum? I really don't have time for this. I'll just put you on ignore like I did with Mayfuck if you continue this.
