Default Recommend me some nice paintings please

Ive bought an appartment and decided to decorate it with awesome paintings. Im gonna buy some at allposters.nl, they have a wide range of artists and they also frame the posters so they look almost classy.

The only problem is i know nothing of art so i need your help. Thus far I really like this one by Magritte:

art is subjective.
it's your house.
how could any opinion other than your own matter?
'Hey guys I just got an Ipod! What musics should I load on it??'

If you don't already have a substantial music collection, what exactly is wrong with this?

"Recommend me some music guys!"

"NO FUCK YOU ART IS SUBJECTIVE."

to make the direct comparisson as you see it, that line about having a prior collection of music and wanting additional input cant be casually thrown in.

Because it's completely different. In his own words he knows nothing about art. So he has no prior knowledge or collection.

The direct comparisson would be: 'Ive bought an Ipod and decided to load it with awesome music. Im gonna buy some at itunes, they have a wide range of artists and they also provide album art so they look almost classy.

The only problem is i know nothing of music so i need your help'.

if someone said that to me my response would be the same suggestion I would make here:
listen to music. Get an idea of what you like. Then choose that. You'll be able to tell you like it cause you enjoy it.

Except with art I would say:
look at art. get an idea of what you like. then choose that. you'll be able to tell you like it cause you enjoy it.

And what would be the problem with that if after receiving recommendations he could listen to albums in their entirety, or at least significant chunks, before buying them.

there's nothing wrong with asking people to point you in a particular direction.
