As far as your taliban argument, if you think that the taliban was A) in a position to turn over Osama you're stupid or B) willing to do it if they could you're naive. Afghanistan as a whole is a very strict Sunni nation. It would be like asking a bunch of southern baptists to turn over George Bush for war crimes. They'd never do it based simply on principle alone.

I hate that argument every time someone brings it up. Having spent time in the middle east I can only attempt to explain to you that your average sunni has a level of conviction that the western world simply can't comprehend. They would not have turned over Bin Laden under any circumstance. Take that argument off the table, you have no clue what you are talking about.

Side note: the majority of our bombings were in unpopulated areas in afghanistan, as after initial invasion we were populating most densely populated areas, using their infrastructure, amongst other things essential for the mission at hand. Despite what you saw in Battlefield and Call of Duty, rampant bombing of villages and laser targeting a snipers nest that keeps killing you was not a tactic used by the US air force

They pointed out that “the lives of millions of civilians at risk."
