Came here during San Gennaro and wished I had stayed far, far away. The whole place is clearly a tourist trap, but since our friends had picked it we gave them the benefit of the doubt and didn't bother looking it up. When we got there, we saw the terrible standard-Italian-restaurant bread on the table and knew we weren't in for a treat. We decided to play it safe and got the gnocci and a margherita pizza. Both were incredibly bad. We couldn't even finish it and ended up just munching on styrofoam consistency bread.

If you are from out of town, maybe you will be charmed by the twinkling patio and store-bought taste, but I (and I assume most New Yorkers) expect a level of homemadeness that Da Nico did not deliver. I can cook better Italian food and I don't have an ounce of Italian blood in me.
