The only thing I could ever define was when I heard lots of rumors that Disarm was about abortion and the Billy was pro-life. He seems to keep the politics out of his music. EDIT: just realized that Zwan WAS on Fox news in January. Last edited by jczeroman : 05-27-2003 at 10:29 AM. |

I saw Zwan on "This Week in Baseball." Billy made some very controversial statements about how he was a Cubs fan and roots for former Cubs.
I found that offensive. |

Step 1- Follow a successful, winning MLB team. Step 2- Wait until the third inning. By then at least one former Cub will have batted. Bobby Dernier for life! |

Which proves my point (I think). Mark Grace=Arizona Diamondbacks 1st baseman two years ago.
Hit me! ANYBODY remember Bobby Dernier? I guess I'm dating myself. He was the Cubs CF on their '84 NL East division champ team. I was 6 or 7 that year. For some reason, he was my favorite player. He got replaced by a switch-hitting Hispanic dude whose name I can't recall at the moment. |

I remember Dernier. He was fast and a decent outfielder but couldn't hit enough to stick around for long. |

Dernier was pretty fast for a white guy...84? Is that the year Steve Garvey dealt the lethel blow to the Cubs World Series hopes? Then the Padres got smoked by the Tigers.
anyway...former Cubs? Billy Williams (wait, he never played for anyone else huh) Shawon Dunston shit...Im not so hot on my Cubs history. somebody post the Cubbies 84' lineup and some pitchers. chop chop. |

dudes...#33 name was Porfi. bwahah. :P
Here they are, your 1984 Chicago Cubs...they finished 96-65, one game short of 162. If I had to guess one game was called because of darkness. I loved how Gary Matthews would always "accidently" knock his batting helmet off when rounding the bases. He hated the rule that said you had to keep your helmet on.
Rick Sutcliffe pitched for the Indians World Series team that lost to the Marlins, didn't he? And just for the record, Leon Durham kicked ass. |

I think there's about 3 netphorians who have secretly longed for a sports board on Netphoria.
what better thread to veil this sports fix than Zwan's political stance...which appearently is somewhere to the right of Mark Graces lefthandedness and to the left of Turk Wendells toothbrush. Dicsuss. :/ |

A sports board would kick ass because it would keep those threads out of everyone else's way.
But there would be too many complaints and it would never happen. |

A sports board would probably be busier than this political shithole.

I just saw the new interview of Zwan and it was pretty good. That guy Gopoloupoloupous (sp?) is good. Ummm...I think I get Billy's notions about artist that stand the test of time being above the times they're in, not just with the times.
Jimmy looks healthy. That Sweeney guy is funneh. I dunno...cool interview. rock on! |

to get back on topic:
in an interview on german tv on 2003-02-17 or 18 he was asked about the peace protests, and he more or less said, that he was with them on account of peace being the most important thing in the world, but that they also were as much pro-peace as anti-american, and that the people protesting were forgetting the fact that saddam was a brutal dictator. he said people should step down from seeing the whole situation as black and white either this side or that. and he found it very uplifting how much enthusiasm the protesters had. and he made a point about food issues and the aids problem. he wishes for everyday consistency about care for other matters like these. i think that was his most lenghty statement about politics i ever saw...available on a wondervul svcd to download at the hub (including performances of el sol, jesus, i > god's gonna set the world on fire and desire)
