Well, you need economic disaster and lots of weaponry. Having the army on your side helps, as well.

The national army will be better trained than any revolutionary army you construct and have more weapons at their disposal. And I guarantee you there will be more of them.

Besides, wait until the economy collapses, then you can start talking about the "proletarian" and promise lots of things you can't deliver on. "Peace, Land, and Bread!" is a time tested impossible promise that will put your revolutionary force on top.
