It's interesting that in the UK, and a number of general information sites are discouraging the removal of wisdom teeth unless it's *absolutely* necessary (i.e. holy fuck, my mouth is in agony.) If they're impacted, but don't look like they're going to do anything such as push/injure the teeth I think I'll just leave them in. I should have had a better look at the x-ray...my greatest hope is that they're still pretty straight, as they apparently were last time I visited about a year ago. My dentist mentioned the two wisdom teeth although he did not seem to have concern about them. Hell, as long as they stay straight and/or don't cause problems, I don't really care if they ever erupt. Some people don't want to deal with the possible infections that can develop around erupted wisdom teeth since they are difficult to clean properly. But really, most of the infections are fairly easily treated with common antibiotics. I've never had any type of teeth straightening device, so mine pretty much went wherever they pleased...didn't turn out half bad, either.

I suppose I should consider myself lucky that I don't have the whole matching set, so to speak. I've only got one tooth per left and right bottom jaw. But it's times like these that I'd wish to have a mouth like David Bowie. (Actually I don't know that, but it sure does appear large enough to accomodate a few more teeth.)

Mine were apparently pretty close to coming up and about ready to be taken out and then they turned toward my teeth and were impacted for a while. And now they've started to turn down toward my jaw and are growing into and they're going to screw everything up so I've got to have surgery in a month or two where they break my jaw and take them out. Fun.

I'm now scared for my teeth.. Mine need to be removed at some point--- or maybe they don't. I was told they do, and they've given me a little bit of trouble over the past 6 months or so (biting gum, little pain, etc.) but nothing too terrible... Maybe I'll just see if I can leave them in...

When my boyfriend got his removed, the pain was minimal and he was fine shortly after. But I've heard of other people having to just sit around for a week because it hurts too much to do anything else..

You guys are such wusses. It's been about ten hours since I had it done, and I haven't taken anything for the pain yet. The numbness has receded, and it hurts, but it's nothing to whine about. The only thing that's really bothering me is this little loose piece of thread that keeps coming into contact with my tongue.
