I tried once, I can't remember what the outcoem was. Essentially the obvious scources were condemmed:

CNN
MSNBC
FOX News (but the simpsons is fair game)

That post was likely the beginning of the end of the politics board.

Part of being a responsible and politically conscious citizen is that you think critically about all the sources and statistics you come across, and make at least some attempt to analyze what spin has been put on them.

Because all information is spun, period. There's no such thing as objectivity. But media information especially - because that's the business they're in. They make their living off of selling information, so they know what they're doing.

this is moronic for a number of reasons. first im not left. i hold some of their values, but i also hold a whole bunch on conservative values. just cause im against the war doesnt mean im left, although it is fair for you to assume so. saying i "resorted to name calling" is such a pussy way to respond to this and makes you sound so fake. there was no clear formal debate established at all. you burst in basically telling us that this discussion is obsolete and over because you and that passionately idiotic bluestar said so. noone cares what was established as complete, especially if its asserted by someone like you or bluestar in the way you did it. if you want me to prove my case ill prove it along with anyone else here, but dont think your worthy of a balanced dignigfied response to everything you say. i could just as easily have "nicely" lambasted you for doing what you did. where the problem lies is that you think your autmatically worthy of respect and your not, especially after saying something so stupid

i allready acknowledged that i shouldve double checked that article before i posted it, and for that i was wrong. i was the first to correct myself and give the complete transcript for others to make that choice themselves. you were there and you saw that admission so theres no reason to bring that up other than as a frivilous source of argument

I think it is pretty funny to watch people take it really seriosuly though. but you are right about a lot of that...you really can't believe anything you hear in politics. THat's why I hate arguing about it.

The most interesting classes I have ever taken were poli sci...but the buttfucks who would make the class stay in session for 4 hours arguing really killed it for me.

And every party and political affiliation has its share of brilliant people who really know what they're talking about too. (And everybody's information is limited in *some* way.)

Heh. Yeah. I dunno, I enjoy arguing about it, just 'cause I enjoy arguing - and it's a relatively interesting topic that people can get really impassioned about. But it's a pretty futile exercise. And definitely not a good enough reason to keep other people sitting in a class when they're not interested.
