Default The Solstice Bare...

The Solstice Bare Limited Edition Box (12 Inch CDEP ++) - Smashing Pumpkins

Smashing Pumpkins The Solstice Bare Limited Edition Box (12 Inch CDEP ++)
Overview
Of all the major alternative rock bands of the early '90s, SMASHING PUMPKINS were the group least influenced by traditional under ground rock.

Lead guitarist/songwriter Billy Corgan fashioned an amalgam of progressive rock, heavy metal, goth rock, psychedelia, and dream pop, creating a layered, powerful sound driven by swirling, distorted guitars. SMASHING PUMPKINS became the model for alternative rock success.

THE SOLSTICE BARE is the second chapter in the Smashing Pumpkins long-awaited 44-song concept album (After the release of TEARGARDEN BY KALEIDYSCOPE VOL. 1 - RSV006 in May 2010). Once again this deluxe release is housed in a limited edition box (12.25" square x 1/2" deep) this time featuring a 1970's design by The Flavor Paper Co. Set includes a 12" Vinyl Picture EP & a deluxe CD in mock gatefold sleeve all with beautifully screen printed artwork by NOEL WAGGENER of SubCulture Press.

The second Chapter in The Smashing Pumpkins long-awaited 44-song concept album
• features 5 new tracks! including new single "Freak"
• Limited to 10,000 worldwide, only 500 for the UK!!!
• Housed in a limited edition silk screened wooden box (12.25" square x 1/2" deep). Set includes a 12" Picture EP & a deluxe CD in mock
gatefold sleeve (all artwork shown on Page 2 below)
• All packaging beautifully screen printed artwork by NOEL WAGGENER (SubCulture press)

also, why do they say that it's a limited release? they did the same thing with the last ep, and i still see loads of unsold copies everywhere. no way they only made 10,000, and only made 500 available to the uk. no fucking way. bullshit!

on the other hand, 10,000 is a lot, considering they only have about 20 fans left.

cover is cool.

it will be the 4 "free" songs and a b-side, probably instrumental again.

yo bill, in english adjectives usually go before nouns, swapping them is kind of a high school poetry move

now, the solstice BEAR on the other hand, that is something i could get behind

They sure do love hyping the artwork. "Mock Gatefold" indeed. ""1970s design" indeed.

"12" Picture EP & a deluxe CD" - sounds like another waste of vinyl if you ask me but it would be nice if all the EP tracks were on the 12".

I don't see how they get this out by the end of November. The second song of the EP doesn't come out for a couple weeks. They'd have to really rush and keep really strictly to the song-a-month schedule to get the last two out in time. Otherwise, the first time we hear one or two of these songs will be when we buy the EP.

The cynical part me wonders if that's by design though. Two or three unheard songs would sell a lot more EPs than four songs we've already gotten for free and one (possibly) unheard b-side.

I just hope some of the music matches up to the artwork and packaging this time to be honest. Freak isn't that promising

He was talking about a different way to release the material. He could just release an EP every 6 months and release maybe 1-2 songs ahead of time....which is what you're saying, I suppose.

Indeed, thus negating the whole point of the [AG-B] one song at a time release format.

That's a good thing though. If you are interested enough you get it first.

It doesn't bother me much (I'm buying it either way), but as pointed out above it does tend to undermine the entire idea behind the song-a-month release plan. And really, it'll be pretty annoying if the EP comes out in November but they still drag out releasing the songs from it until January or February.

i think it is safe to say that billy has abandoned the whole one-song-a-month idea

if the ep comes out before all of the songs are released, it'll just be ripped and the other 3 songs will be posted online by someone in like 5 minutes, so it will really defeat the purpose of the whole 1 song a month thing.

From O-board:

[quote name='judas' date='Sep 3 2010, 09:17 PM' post='491056']
this may be obvious to everyone, but it looks like the artwork shown in the rocket science ad could be from the vinyl picture disc. judging from the circular shape and the hole in the middle.
