Thanks to Minnesota's outstanding bullpen, flawless defense and undeniable home field advantage (pointed out by a few of you here), the Angels were able to manage a 4-1 series win over the Twins.
Actually, the better team definitely won. First World Series appearance for the Angels ever, and they set several records along the way: -8 runs on 10 hits in one inning in the ALDS against the Yankee's in gm4. -Highest batting average over a 5gm ALDS series vs the Yanks (.370 something I believe it was) -6 consecutive hits in one inning in the LCS against the Twins in gm5. -Adam Kennedy tied the playoff record for 3hrs in 1 game, in gm5. (3rd ever) -Francisco Rodriguez, first pitcher ever to have his first win come in the playoffs. -Most hits and runs (10 each) in one inning of the LCS, gm5. -A bunch others I don't have the stats for yet. --Jason sticking with my pick, Angels over the Giants in 6. |

As one of the people who extolled the virtues of the Twinkies in the Homer Dome, I must say I am shocked by how far along the Angels and their bandwagon fans have come.
Clearly Edison Field was just as important to the Angels, as the Dome was to the Twins. Having seen the footage of the 1986 ALCS where there were clearly more Red Sox fans at Angel Stadium than there were Angels fans, I just doubted that there would be much home field advantage for you guys. Obviously something has happened over the past 16 years to make your home field more of advantage. It looks like great marketing and promotions with (a) thundersticks; (b) rally monky; and (c) the classy new uniforms you guys have that led to the see of Red. It's always been that way come playoff time in the Twin Cities but that wasn't enough this year to overcome the clearly superior Angels. But, whatever. You guys are responsible for Donnie Moore's demise and ultimate alcohol-induced attempted murder of his wife and subsequent suicide. Angels fans may get to celebrate an ALCS victory but you should BURN IN HELL for what you did to the Moore family. Racist, snobby fucks you are. And the Giants will eat you for lunch in the World Series anyway so enjoy it while it lasts. No sour grapes from this Twins fan. Sure. |

Just admit we lost to a good team. They were obviously hotter than we were at the end of the season and coming into this series. It sucks we lost so convincingly, but at least we beat Oakland, who I was more concerned about coming into the post-season. I for one am happy the Twins made it this far. No one could have predicted it when the season started. Here's to next year. ![]() |

Geez, if you mistake the Donnie Moore comments for anything other than tongue-in-cheek comments, it raises some serious questions. Who in their right mind could blame the malicious Angels fans for Moore's suicide. Was it a factor? Sure, especially if you believe his widow and Moore's daughter. Moore's life became an ugly downward spiral starting the moment he surrendered the home run to Dave Henderson, and part of this was fueled by the booing Angels fans. But like SilverFuck said, this is the same thing that happened to Buckner and Knoblauch, and probably countless other players, none of whom killed themself. I'm just pissed we got so flat-out hammered. But like you, I can't describe how proud I am once again to wear the Twins gear, especially in the land of the Cheeseheads. (And especially considering how pathetic the Vikings have become. Can't wear the purple with pride these days, huh.) Plus, let's be honest. Hockey season is underway. We've got the Gophers and Wild to root for. Maybe Duluth or Mankato if that's your thing. And I still root for the Stars. So my sports life will be okay once I digest this ass-kicking. |

When Aneheim beat the Mariners, I vowed to support them as to keep up some glimmer of hope that the Ms are possibly the 2nd best team this season, and just had bum luck.
Then when the Angels beat the Yankees, they became my new best friends ![]() I hope they win it all

The difference between the Twins fans and Angels fans has nothing to do with how much attendance we had during this regular season.
It is the fact that this year's scene in the Dome was no different than when we made the playoffs in 87 and 91. 56,000 rabid Homer Hanky-waving fans. Whereas, during the 86 ALCS in Anaheim, the Angel fans were outnumbered by Red Sox fans in their own park. That is pathetic. I was watching the infamous Game 5 on ESPN Classic yesterday and was astonished to see how far your fans had come. Or how many had clearly hopped on the bandwagon. So, I'm not an idiot for anything in this post, but rather just a pissed off Twins fan who really believed that after getting by the A's, we were World Series material. The Angels are just way more balanced than our team. And they deserve to be where they are. Our team deserves to be on a plane home to the Twin Cities, because they lacked the intensity of the Angels, which is no way to beat a more-balanced, more talented team. Gotta have intesity to overcome those obstacles. That said, I hope you guys get your fucking asses killed by SF or Stl though I'm really doubting that they can beat you at this point. |

From espn.com article by Gammons: http://espn.go.com/gammons/s/2002/1006/1442173.html "Could we also stop hearing about the great fans in Minnesota, who managed the smallest per-game attendance of any team that finished above .500?" Secondly, please shut up about Anaheim fans. It's clear that there were many bandwagon Twins fans this year too. It happens every year with every successful team in every sport. Vent your anger in different ways, man, and lay off calling people racist. |

Whether it's true or not, I don't give a fuck what our pre-game attendance. Part of that could be the fact that a large majority of Twins fans come from outsie the city limits of St. Paul and Minneapolis. And you missed the point completely on what I meant and said about bandwagon Angels fans, you flaming idiot. I noticed you did not dispute what I said about the Angels fans in 1986 vs. the Twins in 1987, 1991. Sure we have bandwagon fans too, but as long as there has been baseball in the Twin Cities, our fans have showed up. Especially in the post-season. That is just not true for Angels fans, evidenced by the fact you were outnumbered by Red Sox fans in your own park in the 86 ALCS. That's pathetic man. How the fuck do you get off saying that I label people racist? Surely it did not happen in this post, but what the hell are you referring too? If I did label people racist it was probably an accurate assessment. I'm not quick to play the race card, but when the shoe fits I fucking wear it you flaming asshole. HOMERPALOOZA: Diehard Angels fan since September 2002! |

I'm not going to shut up you flaming asshole.
Per-game. Shmer-game. I admitted that our attendance may not have been that great during the regular season. Could have something to do with the fact that our owner and the commissioner both want to contract us. Especially pre-new collective bargaining agreement. Okay, so I did call Angels fans racist. I'm a little angry this evening and I really didn't recall throwing that in there. That said, I will at least stick by the part about them being snobby. As for the racist part, well maybe not, but it sounded good at the time. Definetely inciteful which is clearly what I am going for. I don't know why you Cali. people are even responding to me when it's clear that I'm just a disgruntled and dejected Twins fan looking for somewhere to vent my frustration. Netphoria is not really a good indicator of one's intelligence. I can post whatever I want to say about the Angels fans from behind the comfort of a screen name. |
