This is going to make me even more curious what Eros sounds like.

Chinos singing is actually better on Diamond Eyes than it is on Rocket Skates. I really like the chorus.

it's pretty out of place with the rest of the song, which sounds like a ballad: so yes, new stuff for them

the last riff is a variation on the first one; it's just the chorus that's really melodic. in a bad way so.

it's not like the deftones have ever done much other than very commercial heavy metal with singalong choruses and heavy riffs, i don't get your point

Most of White Pony isn't even metal. It's a pretty diverse sounding album.

Pretty solid album. Chino's in fine form on this one. Great vocals, overall + I dig Rocket Skates a hell of a lot more now than I did when it was released. That "kniiiiiives-wooo" bit is some pretty impressive.

So far Prince and Royal are my favourites. Prince has a nice White Pony feel to it whilst Royal reminds me of the Around the Fur days.

+ Chino's really slimmed down in the last couple of years. Good for him.

The album is amazing. Better than anything SP have released in 12 years.

Tracks 5 to 9 are particuarly impressive.

The album is good... but... meh. I agree that Chino's voice is in great form, and I know for sure that the album will grow a lot for me with more listens but right now... it sounds good, it is Deftones, it is rocking and experimental but yet it doesn't completely turn me on.

Prince bassline is AWESOME

It sounds like an inferior version of Around The Fur. It's as nu-metal as it is Pumpkins inspired alternative rock. Nothing new or interesting. It's very average.

I've listened through the first 7 tracks. I'm quite pleased. Beauty School and Prince jump out at me immediately. And there certainly aren't any clunkers yet (even White Pony has a couple meh tunes, imo).

They aren't as accessible as Limp Bizkit, Staind or Korn. It's all relative. It's not really nu-metal that you can sing along too.

It's starting to grow on me. Royal still doesn't sit right with me. Don't really care much for Evil either. Beauty School, Sex Tape, and Rocket Skates are the best by far. The ending of Beauty School is heart wrenching. Kind of Reminds me of Hole In The Earth.

If they are going to retread I would prefer that they go into a post-grunge / Smashing Pumpkins direction than the nu-metal stuff.

I know the idea of a great rock band delivering a great rock album in 2010 is foreign to some of you retards that are so used to B0lly failing everytime, but it's true: Deftones just released an amazing record doesn't matter which way you look at it, even if you point out non-existent links to Limp Biskit.

Now go back to discussing "A song for a son" or whatever the hell SP is doing these days.
