On second thought, I probably just don't get your country yet. Ignore my rant, reason is most likely not something one should bring up talking about US-American politics. My bad.

Well see, theres a certain amount of time before it can all really go to shit, and that time is ending soon. Give it time and be patient works for a couple months at the start maybe. A year in with midterms coming and things looking bad, sit quiet and be patient is bad advice. Your reasoning is actually pretty bad.

If the only ones complaining are republicans/moderates, whose he going to try and win over?

As to the speech. Didnt see it, read some of it. Liked some, hated some. Seems like he took the wrong message from MA. As Eulogy said, HopeChange 2010. Its like his healthcare speech to congress, hell get a bump, thats about it.

Give him more time, for crying out loud, you won't get a better president anytime soon. All you will get is some dumb redneck bitch in the White House screwing it all up again.

Fuck.
most of it is because of this new twitter/fast food culture. everything is mired in immediacy. everything has to happen now. RIGHT NOW. people let objectivity and realism take a backseat to what they want to see happen.

i would say 80% of people who voted for barack thought they were voting for a rock star. and, to be fair, a lot of this fault lies in him and his campaign. to win the primary he had to position himself as this WASHINGTON OUTSIDER! but in reality he was a politician. and it takes a politician to win the presidency, not an ideologue.

but if you look back at other points in american history where the country was or was about to be in shambles, and some uncomfortable changes had to be made, the same thing happened. everybody is erratic and scared because things are going in an unprecendented direction, but later they become acclimated to it. it's just that because of this saturation of 21st century media it's all happening in realtime, so it seems more dire than it really is. but at the end of the day things should level out and obama will pull through, even if he does get buttfucked in the midterms

Bernanke being renominated today only hastens the inevitable slide towards zero.

The Senators seem to fear their banking masters more than the people.

The Presidency itself has shrunk quite a bit lately. Goldman Sachs just uses it to fill in whoever they want in whatever monetary positions benefits them. The President can still declare a war, so the MIC will always get their honey.

When you factor in the recent SCOTUS decision allowing untold billions from corporations to buy our politicians under the guise of free speech, the Bernanke renom charade also doubled as auditions for the Senators to say "hey, look at me, Im for sale!."

It's gonna be an interesting year.
