Here are the international beers I've had recently. Bolded ones I liked a lot and recommend trying if you can find them.

American beers

Anchor Liberty Ale from Anchor Brewing Company - Ratebeer Damn good pale ale, that's all I can say. Hoppy and delicious.
Anchor Steam Beer from Anchor Brewing Company - Ratebeer I got turned onto this brewery by a San Franciscan who raved about this one in particular. Didn't do much for me, really. Bitter and sweet, but not much else going on.

Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter from Flying Dog Brewery - Ratebeer I had this towards the danger end of a beer tasting a few weeks ago. But I remember liking it a lot. Big, bitter, alcoholic. Worth trying, but just the once maybe.
Flying Dog In-Heat Wheat Hefeweizen from Flying Dog Brewery - Ratebeer Just okay. Pretty mediocre hefeweizen.

Rogue Dead Guy Ale from Rogue Ales - Ratebeer
Rogue Imperial Porter from Rogue Ales - Ratebeer

Sierra Nevada Kellerweis Hefeweizen from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company - Ratebeer If you like wheat beer, you need to try this. One of the best examples of the style I've tried – better, in fact, than most of the Bavarian examples you can get here. Pricey here, unfortunately.
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (Bottle) from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company - Ratebeer
Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company - Ratebeer

Australian beers

Coopers Original Pale Ale from Coopers Brewery - Ratebeer
Coopers Sparkling Ale from Coopers Brewery - Ratebeer
Coopers Vintage Ale from Coopers Brewery - Ratebeer Recommended with reservation. I've had this a few times and it's varied from awesome to borderline terrible. Depends on the batch, I guess. It's not expensive, though, so worth risking IMHO.

Little Creatures Pale Ale from Little Creatures Brewing - Ratebeer Pretty good, but for the money (it's very expensive here, at least) you can do much better.

Belgian beers

Chimay Bleue (Blue) from Chimay - Ratebeer
Chimay Rouge (Red) from Chimay - Ratebeer
Chimay Triple / Blanche (White) from Chimay - Ratebeer One of my favourite beers ever. A local bar had it on tap for a while – outstanding. So much going on, but perfectly balanced.

Duvel from Brouwerij Moortgat - Ratebeer Not sure if it's the beer, or me, or both, but this just doesn't interest me like it used to. I'm all for high alcohol content in beer, but not when it overpowers everything else.

Hoegaarden from Brouwerij Hoegaarden (InBev) - Ratebeer This has really gone downhill over the years. The strong coriander and citrus notes are all but gone. The stronger Hoegaarden beers are still great, though.
Hoegaarden Grand Cru from Brouwerij Hoegaarden (InBev) - Ratebeer
Hoegaarden Verboden Vrucht from Brouwerij Hoegaarden (InBev) - Ratebeer

La Chouffe from Brasserie d’Achouffe (Moortgat) - Ratebeer Yeasty and alcoholic, not too complex, but very refreshing.
Mc Chouffe from Brasserie d’Achouffe (Moortgat) - Ratebeer

Maredsous 10 from Brouwerij Moortgat - Ratebeer Not sure how this has a 94 on RateBeer. Overly yeasty and poorly balanced, IMHO.

Orval from Brasserie dOrval - Ratebeer I still have no idea what this tastes like – not like any other beer you've ever tried, at least. Confusing and excellent.

German beers

Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier from Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu (InBev) - Ratebeer

Hofbräu München Dunkel from Staatliches Hofbräuhaus München - Ratebeer I haven't liked anything from this brewery. Apparently what they produce for the domestic German market is totally different, but regardless I won't be trying anything else of theirs released here.
Hofbräu München Kristall Weisse from Staatliches Hofbräuhaus München - Ratebeer
Hofbräu Münchner Weisse from Staatliches Hofbräuhaus München - Ratebeer
Hofbräu München Schwarze Weisse from Staatliches Hofbräuhaus München - Ratebeer

Schneider Aventinus from Weissbierbrauerei G. Schneider & Sohn - Ratebeer Another favourite. Wheat beer on steroids, essentially. I'd drink it like water if not for the price and ridiculous calorie count.
Schneider Weisse Original from Weissbierbrauerei G. Schneider & Sohn - Ratebeer

Schöfferhofer Hefeweizen from Binding-Brauerei (Oetker Group) - Ratebeer As per Hofbrau.
Schöfferhofer Kristallweizen from Binding-Brauerei (Oetker Group) - Ratebeer

Other European beers

3 Monts De Flandre

Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA (Europe) (Bottle) from Belhaven (Greene King) - Ratebeer

Fullers India Pale Ale (Bottle conditioned 5.3%) from Fullers - Ratebeer

Morland Old Speckled Hen (Pasteurised) from Greene King - Ratebeer Quaffable, pleasant mild malt notes, but a bit boring.

Japanese beers

Baird Angry Boy Brown Ale from Baird Brewing Co. - Ratebeer
Baird Rising Sun Pale Ale from Baird Brewing Co. - Ratebeer Doesn't really taste like other pale ales I've tried, but nevermind that. Strong nose & early body of lychees and peaches, transitioning to mild cherries and crisp hoppiness in the finish. Delicious stuff. No idea how available this is (I've only seen it in one bar here, and it was imported by the proprieter), but if you see it, snap it up.

I'm sure I'm missing a few, but that ought to do it for now.

Shit, that's 60-something beers over the last two or three months. So long, liver, it's been a gas.

Most German beer I can find here is wheat, bock or lager. I don't like bock all that much, and only really the pilsner style of lager. Not many German examples of that here. The only one that comes to mind is Beck's, which sucks. The Beck's we get here is probably made under license in Auckland or Australia anyway.

bock is a slightly odd choice even here. the lager distinction usually isn't made - it's almost always pilsner anyway. and that's what i drink 90% of the time. we just distinguish between pils, wheat and "dark" beers. and odd shit like kölsch or märzen

Pilsner and helles are the lager varieties I can name, but a quick check on Wikipedia says that bock, dunkel, and a bunch of others are in fact lagers. Well, whatever, guys.

I've never heard of kölsch, but imported märzen is available here. Haven't tried it yet.

yeah of course almost everything we drink is lager, that's why it wouldn't make much sense to mention it. even schwarzbier is lager afaik

60 different beers. (See first post in thread.) Probably averaging ~5 for the ones I like. :/

Oh, I love this. And it's reasonably cheap around these parts. A good go-to when I can't make up my mind about something new or different to try.
