http://www.indiana.edu/~alumni/magta...ages/life1.jpg

So was I once myself a swinger of birches.
And so I dream of going back to be.
It's when I'm weary of considerations,
And life is too much like a pathless wood
Where your face burns and tickles with the cobwebs
Broken across it, and one eye is weeping
From a twig's having lashed across it open.
I'd like to get away from earth awhile
And then come back to it and begin over.
May no fate willfully misunderstand me
And half grant what I wish and snatch me away
Not to return. Earth's the right place for love:
I don't know where it's likely to go better.
I'd like to go by climbing a birch tree
And climb black branches up a snow-white trunk
Toward heaven, till the tree could bear no more,
But dipped its top and set me down again.
That would be good both going and coming back.
One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.

listen, this wouldn't even be a fucking issue if SOMEONE hadn't decided to make the most retarded rule in the world. there's no reason i should obey an unjust law. martin luther king knew that. henry david thoreau knew that. i'm not going to make you sit me on the back of the bus just because you have this nazi idea of netphoria. you can't fucking edit my sig.

except in real life, at least in america, people don't generally violate your right to free speech. i don't appreciate being violated. maybe i would have changed it if gaddrow hadn't fucking deleted it in the first place.

do you realize how stupid you sound? comparing the rights of American citizens to someone editing your post on a messageboard.

seriously, you really need help.

Maybe you ought to re-read the Constitution. Place particular emphasis on the First Amendment which you are referring to and the 14th Amendment as well.

Free speech has ZERO to do with "people" violating your free speech rights. Free speech is about the government violating your free speech rights. The First Amendment does not prevent private citizens or businesses from violating free speech rights. It only applies to state or federal action.

How the fuck is Netphoria state or federal action?

If Netphoria somehow violated your civil rights than you may have some sort of arguments, but a private business or organization like netphoria can censor in any way it wants.

I know you know this, but I thought I'd point out how your "free speech" argument is patently defective.

Anyway, I enjoyed reading your angry confrontational posts concerning this important matter. And I even refrained from making an obvious reference to how JAP-like some of your comments sound.

except i'm making the assumption that netphoria is sort of a model country, ie a nation-state all its own basically modeled on the modern democratic nations, therefore the moderators *are* the government so my comparison is perfectly valid.

Would there be no Equal Protection Clause in your Netphoria nation-state?

If you at least admit that the rule (law whatever) on sigs has a valid or somewhat valid purpose than you can't say it's a stupid law. It's just stupid that the law would be enforced against seemingly harmless conduct like your Robert Frost poem sig.

But to apply the law one way to some sigs that violate the rule and another way to your sig that violates the rule would run counter to the Equal Protection Clause, which demands the laws of the nation to be enforced equally to everyone.

The best solution would just be to use your NP influence for a re-wording of the rule, so that it only applied to people who do this in other people's threads or on a regular basis.

But as long as the rule is in its present form it must be applied the same to everyone, even you. Even if the law was not meant for sigs like yours, on its face the law applies to sigs like yours.

no. because it's possible to differentiate between laws. *this* law is completely invalid and ridiculous. maybe another, differently-worded law wouldn't be so ridiculous. maybe 'no use of sigs for spamming' or something to that degree.

Of course you can differniate between laws. For what it's worth (nothing at all) I agree that the law is ridiculous and should be changed to "no use of sigs for spamming"

But as long as this one exists in its present form - stupid or not - it should be enforced to everyone equally, so that our Netphorian nation-state does not run counter to the Bill of Rights.

hm hm i don't think so. an unjust law shouldn't be enforced at all. i guess that would make it enforced equally (an equal rate of zero)

Right.

But enforcing the law at an equal right of zero would mean that at this point the rule would not even be enforced against people who violate it by using their sigs to spam.

That made sense in my head. But maybe it got lost in translation.

This is why the law should be changed. Because until it is changed the only fair solutions are (a) 100% enforcement or (b) zero enforcement.

100% enforcement = application of the rule to harmless sigs.

zero enforcement = rule will not apply even to sigs for spamming.

unequal enforcement = violation of the Netphoria Equal Protection Clause.

Oh my lord I need sleep. That and a fucking life.

You come here on your on free will... They set the rules, and if you want to be here, follow the rules or leave. It's fairly simple.

Netphoria doesn't owe you any rights.
