he talks mostly about nin, but talks about mcis around 5:20 - 8:45

I don't believe I'd heard that before. I think when people talk about the Pumpkins layered guitar, they normally speak of Soma's 40 or so tracks.

That doesn't necessarily mean that all 78 tracks were layered and running at the same time, though...or the 40 with "Soma." Those songs are a bit longer than the others and both have layered solos on top of the layered rhythm, etc. It's not that hard to imagine so many tracks. I've had as many as 20-something in a 4 minute song.
