i like it a lot. it has a line in jack, two line outs and a headphone with remote option. i haven't tried it in an audience recording setting, but i hear they work well for that. i have plugged it directly from the board when my band has played shows, and the results have been very good. i reccomend it.

I just ordered a refurb, old-style 10 gig from the Apple Store for $199. I agree that the new ones look hella ugly. Those buttons that light up in red have GOT to go.

wtf? You're an idiot. The 2.0 firmware is not compatible with the older iPods so i won't be updating it. Why exactly are the new models so wonderful in your highly esteemed opinion? Aside from the larger sizes available, I'm not aware of any real upgrade unless you have to have those new light up buttons. And apparently the battery life on the new ones is pretty poor.

I can deal with 10 hours as opposed to 12. The screens are brighter, crisper, and more customizable. The largest size is what makes it the best of the pack. The buttons work perfectly. You barely even have to push them. They cleaned up the lines, and made everything a little smoother.

The 2.0 upgrade is something that they aren't going to give you. Your Ipod can handle it, they just made it so you can't use it. The new ones are better equiped to run on Windows machines.
