I think you mistakenly used the plural form of the word "fan."

I think that would be a much better choice than D.C.

There's too mant NL teams on the West Coast. I like the Portland idea, but you'll need some reshuffling of leagues.. Maybe move either San Diego or Colorado to the AL West.

I'd send the Rockies to the AL.

Maybe the Padres, just because they named their new field Petco Park, and they deserve to be banished to the far outreaches of the galaxy for that shit.

The problem with moving COL is that when AZ came in expansion they were supposed to be an AL team but COL and AZ wanted to be "rivals" so instead they because an NL team which forced MIL to move to the NL to have a balanced number of teams.

I think the Padres would make sense for a move more than anyone else.

Then move the Expos to the AL so they can be rivals with the Mariners.

The Padres need to stay in the NL because the Dodgers are the closest thing they have to a rivalry.

The Expos should stay NL in order to have an NL presense in that geographic area - Selig loves the "fans can see the visiting clubs" thing.

Look at the NL West: Dodgers are not changing leagues. Anaheim is there already. SF has the same thing with Oakland. AZ and COL as well. The only team without a rival is San Diego, who would make a natural rival with Anaheim.

It wouldn't be DC, techinically, it would be Arlington. They had a community meeting last night and are having another one tonight about the whole stadium thing (if they want to build one and where they should build it). The three possible sites are all right near me. I think it would be awesome to be able to walk to a baseball stadium and catch a game. However, of course, the Expos suck.

maybe they could name them something unique, like "Senators."

Oh wait, Washington had 2 teams already named that and they both left because no one came.

That was then, this is now. If you build it, they will come.

Then we'll just have to put another team in MTL. Damned neverending cycles.

Problem is, they've already discussed moving the Diamondbacks to the AL, which would make logical sense. and from what I've heard, they're okay with it.

So..
The Diamondbacks move to the AL West from the NL West.
The Pirates move from the NL Central to the NL East to replace the Expos.
The Expos move to the NL West from the NL East to replace the Diamondbacks.

Then there are 5 teams in each division.

I don't see how your equation works any better than if the Padres move from NL west to AL west. Colangelo is VERY against moving to the AL btw.

This makes sense, but how do you schedule the season? With 15 teams in each league, one team would be the odd man out in each league. You would then have to schedule interleague games throughout the year.

I personally wouldn't have a problem with that, but don't they currently schedule all interleague games in two two-week stretches? I guess they do this to "hype" the interleague games.

What I said originally about the Brewers switching leagues was because when AZ went to the NL, it made 15 teams in each league. Mil moved to make it 14 AL / 16 NL. Otherwise you're right, the'd have interleague every day and it would lose its "specialness."

and we all know that Bud wouldn't want his baby not to be "special", don't we?

For this reason, I don't think any teams will switch leagues.

There would have to be some sort of divisional shift at least.

True....

Pittsburgh to the from Central to East, Expos from East to West-- West would have the 6 team division. Makes the most sense.

I know the Expos always get hot early and fizzle out toward the end of seasons ... but they're tied with the Giants for the second best record in the NL right now. If the season ended today, they'd be in the playoffs.

This might be their year, though. They have two bona fide stars in Vidro and Guerrero, Cabrera's doing great, and if anything, the rest of their lineup is underachieving. And the staff has been brilliant. You can't expect that to continue into September, no, but ... they look really good thus far.
