well sure there might be a few. apparently gerald ford had some when he came or something, but this is different. this is thousands of people with no affiliation with the university descending onto the campus to turn the day into a circus. now the obvious course of action for me would be to not contribute to it.

but i fucking hate these people.

I haven't read the whole thread but those protesters do make us "pro-life" believers look dumb.

I meant some of those and I also wanted to make clear that I'm deeply anti-abortion, even if in a cold statistically fashion I understand the option.

Which might be slightly hypocritical since I paid for a friend's abortion.

Of course not, it was my friend's girlfriend "kid". And I paid for it because her girlfriend was determined and she was already 2 months pregnant and neither her nor my friend had the money for the procedure.

for the second point, yeah yeah. i know. but. yeah.

And every commencement speaker gets an honorary degree. These things are not that special and in no way indicate support for a particular political stance, which is what it would have to do in order for it to go against what the Church actually says about it.

I usually get a few tix to the tour to distribute to employees for the closest location. that's about it. Sometimes we're asked to work the booth with the great Steve Van Doren.

what are you gonna do? wrestle each one of them single handedly? I would ignore them as long as they don't have bombs.

i've done that a bunch of times already.

aaaand before anyone else (justifiably) yells at me, I agree with all of you. Doing anything would most likely be dumb and counterproductive.

It could all be fun to watch though. I guess I'll see.

Just ignore them. I have seen them at all the hospitals I have worked at and unless you start something with them, they are generally not that out of control.

if they weren't going to bring their most graphic giant-sized dead baby pictures it'd probably be fine. do a candlelight vigil or something. sheesh.

Find a hot anti-abortion protester and demand that she prove her dedication to the cause by letting you impregnate her (in case you don't know how this works, you'd have to fuck her) You might have to do this several times, possibly several times every day, as the first time doesn't always take.

Duquesne's a Catholic school but they don't really push any bullshit on you. When I was at Grove City College they sure fucking did though. It was intolerable.

no no. They have recently affirmed that they need to make an effort to continue to search for and hire Catholics (which has set off another recurring controversy..), but there are plenty of non-Catholics teaching. And outside of Theology classes, there is no mention of Catholicism or God unless it's relevant to the course. And even the two Theology classes (one I'm in right now) that I was required to take were totally objective. My professors have all been outstanding. I have no complaints about any of them.

Basically there are just a lot of chapels and priests on campus and crucifixes in the rooms. What ups the ante with the Catholicism is that the majority of the student body is pretty Catholic. Much more than I had expected, actually.

Oh and they are somehow able to justify discriminating against homosexuals, and they don't allow them to have a university-recognized student group. but whatev.

Oh and they don't sell condoms or cigarettes on campus. And sex is technically against the rules.

No seriously just ignore them. Don't even give them dirty looks or roll your eyes.

Either you ignore them or you encounter them. And if you encounter them you should kill them. And if you won't kill them then you shouldn't bother encountering them. So just ignore them.
