I think she looks pretty good still, I can hardly tell the difference.

However those grandma pants are pretty weird.

yeah, what eulogy said: pissing people off isnt an accomplishment. its easy.

and, i dont know, i dont think liberals actually feel angry in the way youre thinking. shes obviously a provocateur and someone who knows that flashy, controversial opinions "sell," so its not really her statements-at-face-value that people are getting "angry" over, its something else.

if someone says (like she did) that "women shouldnt be allowed to vote" it obvious that she doesnt really mean it, but theres still something idiotic and lamentable about it nonetheless. its almost more a taste thing, im just put off by in what poor taste her rhetoric is. its shameless and stupid and blatantly demagogic.

it's one thing to play devil's advocate. it's another to go on tv and spout lies and half truths in order to push an obvious agenda. she's poison to humanity.

the people who comment on the articles on my local paper's website, sacbee.com, are the fucking worst. it's just one ignorant right wing screed after another. just repeating rush limbaugh points verbatim.

I see her in the same way I see Franken though - she's half telling the truth as she sees it, and the other half trying to be funny/provocative. Of course I don't take her seriously and wouldn't, say, vote her into any sort of office...

it's no secret that I'm a big Franken fan. I've read his books and listened to his radio show.

Franken is, by far, more intelligent and informed about issues than any rightwing talking head. And probably more informed than many politicians on either side.

I think the only reason it seems like Franken is more able to be taken more seriously than someone like Coulter is because he fails so badly at being funny or provocative enough to have anyone care about a thing he says.

so all that reaching across the aisle by Obama and watering down the stimulus with dumb republican bullshit garnered zero republican votes in the house. why even try.

if I remember right, the first clinton budget was the exact same story.

From what Ive read there was no appeasement going on in 1992. Isnt that and HillaryCare blamed for the 94 midterms.

it's not about the votes.. it's about making them feel a part of the process and heard which will help defuse the divisive pettyness we see.. that's the happy-feeling goal.

the other one is that republicans come out of it looking like whining babies for being consulted, getting some concessions, and then still voting against a stimulas that has the broad support of the us citizens. This works in obama's favor too.

Dig a little deeper and you may see why this approach is worth the time.

The fact that not one R voted for it and it still can pass means they have little to lose for voting against it and a lot to gain if public opinion turns against the bill.

ps. screw dr. phil

.. did you see what they actually took out as "concessions"? bullshit like resodding the national mall in DC?

why is this a "stimulus package"? how is adding new foreign aid packages and buying computers for schools a "stimulus"?

ha, thinkprogress flips out over 2 days of news coverage of members of the House of Representatives because let's face it, the Dems are mostly in lockstep with Obama on this and thus have nothing newsworthy to add

lets face it a flip out like that over 2 days of coverage just goes to show how big of a liberal bias there really is.

plus the MSNBC coverage of the GOP congress was all negative anyway

Well I personally think the effort made makes Obama come out looking better than the GOP and will resonate with voters in 2 years if he keeps it up.

If he keeps having closed door meetings, respecting congress especially the GOP, and they keep shooting him down and bitching then people will start to see who the real culprits of bipartisanship are.

you may be right about dems being in lockstep and thus not newsworthy, but the over representation of right wing commentators is not just a 2 day thing. of course right wingers always consider moderates and neutral figures to be "left wing" and thus think its more balanced than it really is.

I have a feeling that you don't know what the definition of stimulus is.
