I Have 5-star VIP tomorrow. I hope its a better experience. But at least you got more out of the first nights 5-star. what should i be expecting?

was guitar pick guy the same douche that was yelling "PLAY ROCKET! I WANNA HEAR ROCKET" to billy while he was in the car? BC got pissed at that. my friend Sarah ran over and was like "NO BILLY! PLAY WHATEVER YOU WANT TO PLAY!" and BC gave her a point of approval.

who was the woman driving billy? i haven't see Kateri around.... (trouble in paradise?)

ENERGY THROUGH THE ROOF TONIGHT!!!

Billy, you said after 11/21 that you "watched a video from 1994 and the crowd was going absolutely mental", and lamented that it's not like that these days (but also said that you realize it's "different times"). Then someone said "well if the show was general admission and you played this setlist, people would be going mental."

Enter tonight --- crowd was GREAT!! Cherub Rock, Zero, Bodies, United States was fucking OUT OF CONTROL. Not quite Europe intensity, but for the USA, the crowd was going WILD. We were getting smashed into our spots on the rail... but not that much, cause I was regulating behind me. This one girl kept holding on to my shirt (not a problem for me). But it was pretty fucking mayhem.... some people got knocked out of their spots slightly, and a few girls got carried out over the rail due to exhaustion/getting crushed. But since I was the wildest one during United States, no one bothered me at all.

NETPHORIA was well represented on the right-center b/n Billy and Jeff!! All of y'all were great... I got to meet Pizza Club (eating pizza, of course)!!! And BiissedandGone2, Rickpat, aldango, avsfan, cara... GREAT energy tonight!!!

luna_pumpkin flew 10 hours from Brazil and was first in line at 9AM. You are awesome, but shame on the rest of America. I was 6th in line at 11:30AM. Shout out to Eddie, Jose, Amy, Megan -- and Zack & Brandon, what happened to you guys?

Great banter from Billy tonight... he said, "all those people who thought we couldn't get the band back together were fucking wrong". Also he said, "Now that we have our shit together again, we're gonna start going after the other bands out there.... those bands that people pass off as 'alternative'". I yelled out "Fall Out Boy fucking sucks!!!" and Billy laughed, I'm pretty sure. (reference to DeRogatis's recent Sun-Times review of the FOB Chicago Theatre show, if you missed it... DeRo is fucking clueless).

He also pointed out some dude straight ahead who was apparently giving him the middle finger all night... Billy was joking with him. I couldn't see the dude though.

Jesse was great!!! He was so so into the timpanis on Set the Controls. Crowd ate it up.

Soma is so so chilling. It's so cathartic. So glad that we'll be seeing that again tmrw night.

After show meeting was pretty much a bust, due to dude yelling and begging Billy to play "Rocket" tomorrow night, and also begging for guitar picks. Dude, you mean well (I think), but relax. I already told you at the first 3 Chicago shows that you cannot say that stuff and expect a good response.

SP MEDIA MILITIA, I'd love any extra picks, thanks! I'm 5* VIP tomorrow... see ya there?

Big thanks to Gio for the hookups tonight, as usual.

THE FROGS rocked!!!! Billy played drums during one song (yes he did play, he was not just messing around). He didn't play long though, and after a few mins of playing, started joking around, then went off stage.

"Homos" was the only song I knew, and it was great. "No one knows a homo... like the Aragon" LOL!!

Jimmy jumped off the 7 foot high stage, and started rocking out on the floor in front of the rail. He hit me with his wings when he was going by. Played some great guitar all night though.

SP needs to have the Frogs around for every show... they really know how to tell any douches in the audience to shut the fuck up. A bunch of people were yelling for Billy to come back, and Dennis totally told them off, LOL.

-----------

As mentioned, Billy meetup wasn't that great... Rickpat started to ask if they were going into the studio the record any new songs. I believe Billy started to say "the band is in a good place right now", or something to that effect. He also told us this in Cleveland. Basically, he is much more comfortable with his songwriting than during Zeitgeist, and feels that the band is playing really well. In Cleveland he did say they were going to record "March Hare" but no details. Tonight he didn't add anything.

After party was fun! Brief stop at Kinetic Playground, then closed down Smart Bar. Practically drank them out of Guinness and Jagermeister. Scott from Local H was DJing and put on a great mix (Dylan, Neil Young, Smiths, New Order, ELO, James Brown, some hip hop, etc etc).

One important Billy quote. He said, "since this is the last tour that we'll be playing a lot of old songs, I wanted to play this one for you... it's one of my favorites, from the Mellon Collie box set". (Medelia).

SOOOOO, all the talk of "no more old songs"... well, tonight Billy said "not too many old songs". We'll see. He also added another comment, something like "The band is moving forward, and I hope you're ready".

2009 will be a great year.

Also, the new song "Communion" was really nice. Solo acoustic guitar + harmonica.

Alright, WHO HAS THE FROGS SETLIST DAMNIT?! And did they make any jabs at TSP/current pop culture? C'mon guys, I'm dyin' over here! ;_; Oh, and if anyone taped & doesn't know their songs, lemme know & I'll track & label their set for ya. ^^;

And hmm... I remember going to a show in Chicago years ago where some guy was whining about wanting Billy to sign his pick... like, really whining "I just want Billy to sign my piiiiiiick...." Wonder if it was the same guy?

I yelled "Yeah right!" at this part. So if this is one of the things he follows through on, you can partially blame me.

"When I heard the bread", indeed. >_< I guess it can't handle abbreviations (Japanese abbreviate "Smashing Pumpkins" (スマッシング パンプキンズ, sumasshingu panpukinzu)as スマパン (sumapan) - just so happens that パン means bread. Apparently it didn't know what to do w/ the 'Suma' so it left that alone.)

heres the basic story:
me pat (rickpat) and another kid decided to wait for billy at the fence behind the aragon after the show. cara, john (jriordan) and later skradgee (sp?) were over there as well. while waiting in the freezing cold a dude who had a weird sort of mumbly accent approached us and asked a series of stupid questions.

"hey do you guys know if they have been playing rocket? have you seen them play rocket?"
"hey do you guys have guitar picks?"
"hey did they switch up set lists in the last tour?"

then he sort of wandered away.
so as we were waiting there people would start coming out, first just some crew guys, security, random people. as each person comes out the weird guy who approached would yell at them

"guitar pick?!"

each one would either ignore him, give a or say no and leave.

eventually more serious people would come out; the band, jimmy + family and others...

"guitar pick?!"

finally billy comes out and rolls up in a car with the window down. so what is the first thing this dude asks billy when we've all been waiting in 10 degrees for about 40+ minutes?

"do you have any guitar picks"

billy says no.

"what do you think of the band deerhunter?

"what?"

repeats question

billy answers
"i think that guy is a fucking idiot"

wierd guy asks
"what do you think of the sounds?" or some other indie band

billy looks
"why the fuck are you asking me about other bands?"

weird guy asks
"what about kings of leon? why dont you guys play rocket? play rocket."

billy gets pissed, hardly answers any other questions, chats a bit with people he already knows and leaves.

So no one has mentioned this yet... so maybe I am wrong...

But I seriously believe that the bassist that the Frogs brought on for the second part of the set was Billy in a wig. He played Homos and then a few songs after...

Ok... maybe not. The person sitting next to me told me after the fact that it was Billy in a wig but looking back at some video the bassist looks to be a little too "thick" to be Billy.

i just sort of officially decided this, but have been thinking about it since billy played motgs in denver. he's playing it wrong. and dont mean lyrically. he either changed the chord progression or he cant remember it right, but its wrong. over and out.
