The articles make it sound like the (apparent) deletion of the accounts would be cause to sound the "destruction of evidence" alarm, but I'm pretty sure Yahoo would still have everything available. I really doubt that the accounts were completely deleted.

You really are in a bubble huh. This is common knowledge that Palin specifically ordered all her staff to not use the government email system. They didn't hide this fact.
