what's funny is that they ask you to not mention if you are homosexual or have "homosexual tendencies" and they stress that you cannot attempt to have a "homosexual marriage" while on active duty.

i almost laughed out loud.

NOOOO!!!! THEY GOT YOU TOOO!!!!!

Meh. It might be for you. It's definitely not for me.

Hey, I'm going to PM you my address. When you get there, write me a letter to let me know your address... I'll post it on Netphoria, and we'll all write you letters. Letter writing is the only thing that kept me going through that crap.

Oh, and a hint: When you're at attention, DON'T MOVE. And do everything they tell you to do, no matter how stupid or retarded it is. And don't eat desert, even if they say you can, until you find out that they're not fucking with you. Because they'll make you work it off. Oh yes, they will.

I roofle! *ROOFLE*

Um, hey ass... I dunno what you know about the Army, but basic training is NOTHING like the real army once you graduate. They've made it a big point the last 10 or so years to make it a more user friendly army, more politically correct, blah blah blah... it's actually much like a normal shitty job, just with more assholes, and more medical/dental benifits.

Hell, I got free lazer eye surgery... I see 20/15 right now. I go to work from 9-5 everyday, a little PT at the beginning of the day... altogether not too bad. But it's not for me, because I can't deal with idiots bossing me around. Because you don't have to be smart to be promoted, you just have to do what people tell you to.

We're doing "Training" next Thursday.. we're going to play paintball.

Well, you were making it seem like The Army is like that, not just basic training. But, the thing is, no matter where you work, you have to do what you're told.... so it doesn't really matter anyway.

i'm serious, i'm gonna have to go take a lie down now.
Ok, that's cool... the part that threw me off what this:

I was trying to say that once you get past basic training, this isn't the case. They actually ask for people's input on most things, and they HAVE to give a fuck what you think, because if they do something that offends someone or whatever, they can get in serious trouble. THAT was my point.

that statement is true. no one is saying anything about the army's
homosexual flower arranging box socials. it's not my problem you added
stupid shit i didn't even mention to the equation.

you remind me of a guy from blamo named Alex.
Now you're the one not getting it.

can you just fucking say "IN GENERAL, THIS IS TRUE" and please shut the fucking fuck up?!!
Man you are really missing the point.

I will state it for her: This is true for 16 weeks. After that, this is not true. On a three year term, 16 weeks does not equate to generally. Keep watching those Hollywood movies son, because they have to be accurate.

Anyways...back to the initial post. Congrats. My brother is over in Korea now. He entered the airborne infantry last August. Basic was tough, but he said the airborne training was tougher (even though it was only three weeks).

Do you know where you are going to be completing basic training?

hey, my igloo, half the reason i'm ging is for self-discipline. i can admit that i have a huge problem with authority and hopefully the army will help me in that area. the other half is for the benefits.

at any rate, BL, they said i was only qualified for *i forget the offical title*, but basically a "tanker" or something else.
the thing is, the processing station is 40 kinds of screwed up, so i'm going to talk to my recruiter and see about finding a job that'll have a better real world application, in case i decide not to retire w/ the military.
so, i might leave earlier or later than that. i dunno right now.

i'm nervous and excited at the same time. my brother's leaving in like, a week. he stole the whole idea from me. heh.

Feh, don't let them get you with that "You're only qualified for this" crap. What were your scores like on the ASFAB test? They have to give you a list of what you're qualified for, according to those scores. If you're qualified to be a tanker, you're qualified to do alot of other jobs, like refueler, cook, infantry, etc at least...

I am so damn glad I joined the airforce instead of the army. MY day (when I'm not flying) pretty much consists of me going to work around 9, checking my e-mail, taking a 2 hour lunch break, go home between 1 and 4 (depends on my mood and whether or not there's anything to do). Of course when I do fly it tends to take its toll. I mean spending 3 hours watching how many times my pilots (the people who fly me to work ) can screw up a landing can get a little frustrating. As far as PT goes we have a semi-voluntary workout session every friday morning and we get an ergometry test once a year. They're about to put me on BAH so I'm moving out of the dorms and into an apartment downtown. I haven't done formation in well over a year and my only real job is putting the pole in the hole (see if you can figure that one out).

You can have your army of one.
