4. My math courses are pussy math courses.
5. Sometimes I'm glad that I go to a community college in a state (FL) that has unbelievabley LOW standards.

Those are entry level stats problems (not what you want to hear I know), anyway, you get to write all the formulas down on a sheet of paper, you should be fine.

2. The weights of newborn infants are normally dist with sigma=15 oz. The birth weights of the last 100 infants born yielded an average wt of 114 oz. Construct a 90 % CI for the mean weight of all newborns.

this is the formula for finding the CI for large samples (where n>,=30)

(This would be a lot easier if i could figure out the proper notation, but whatever)

SAMPLE MEAN (+/-) Zsub alpha/2 X (Sigma/square root of sample size)

Sample mean = 114
Sigma is given= 15
Sample Size= 100
Since CI is 90% alpha equals 10% or .1- so Zsub alpha/2= 1.645 (i got this by using a table that gives various values for alpha that our TA gave us. i dunno if you have a similar table or not

)

so just plug in everything into the formula and you end up getting
114 + 1.645(15/square root of 100), 114 - 1.645(15/square root of 100)

which turns out to be 116.4675, 111.5325

if you have the solutions let me know if this is right
