Default "Do you think it's wrong to" thread

ITT, pose a question that is morally perplexing to you or may be to someone else. I'll start it off with a simple one.

Do you think it's wrong to steal something from someone who stole it from someone else?

i think i'd have a hard time with my conscience despite the fact that what im stealing was already taken from an "innocent". I'll never be robin hood i guess

Here's one: is it wrong to download music for free that is sold for money elsewhere? I justify it by just thinking that I wouldn't buy it anyway. I think my logic holds up mostly, because I always buy my favorite bands' music, which occupies the majority of my listening time anyway.

do you think it's wrong to find animals sexy? do you think society should accept persons harboring a sexual attraction to animals if they are committed to total abstinence? [i.e. the furry debate]

if really like an album, i will either support the band by

a) attending the show
b) buying the 12"
c) getting the shirt

but i don't blame people if they don't do that. cd's are a commodity. music is not.

This is without a doubt immoral if you plan to keep the object for yourself. The ownership of the object doesn't change simply because it's changed hands, if you believe in the concept of ownership and you believe the object is owned by the original person to being with, then nothing has changed that fact because no trade has occurred.

That's not a moral question, that's just good old fashioned fun

Not under the concept of Holder in Due Course. If you had no idea it was stolen, or in other words- the person conferred possession but not true title-- if given for consideration-- that thing is now yours and the "true owner's" only step of recourse is legal damages vs. the thief.
