i live in toronto, we don't have macy's

plus, it took 8 months of JOB SEARCHING

not sitting waiting by the phone for this place to call, they just happened to be the first.

Ok, I just used Macy's as an example, and congrats and all that, but what I'm curious about is why it took 8 months of searching to wind up with retail clothing, when normally you can just bounce from store to store in one day and fill out anough apps to have a job in a week?

i handed out over 70 resumes in the span of 8 months, had one interview that i didn't get the job for and that's it.

i guess i handed in the resumes at the wrong time or something.

Plus, i'm talking a course in night school that pertains to writing resumes and cover letters and it just so happens that the place that called for the interview received one of the newer, better resumes.

I was getting really bummed out at the fact that i was getting no call backs, but apparently now is a good time to be job searching.

Depends on where you live. When I worked retail in Montana, I got interviews right away and I was never turned down for hire.

i have no retail experience, so i believe that was my main problem when it came to getting interviews.

I was only applying at retail places.

i live in toronto and i finally got a job interview this afternoon after looking for like 6 months. what is with this city? the jobs for an assistant to a wedding/portrait photographer. i kinda lied on my application though. the requirements were that i have a car but i couldnt be farther from it
